Yep, I pre-ordered. I have not done that in 12sh years. The previous beta weekend was a complete blast, and I was getting my face smashed-in a bunch too.
I disliked this game from the first trailer. I actively tried to discourage some friends and family from getting it. (because I'd rather spend more time with them doing stuff I enjoy too)
Powercore mode is a nice addition to RTS victory objectives. If you lose your core, you were dead anyway. (Don't make me chase down your floating buildings for 10 minutes.) Having a turret to help defend your base from early aggression is welcome (a step up from DoW2 and the huge HP HQ and turrets to defend it)
Elite system is very good. It provides customization to your army, it provides hero units, it provides progression. It's very well done, in all the right ways. Experienced players are NOT going into a match with a level 10 Titan to crush your hopes and dreams. They are the same Farseer Macha, Gorgutz, and Kill Team IronMaw that a first-time player gets. Progressing your Elites/Doctrines allows players of the same faction to use different styles, which is great because Black Templars, Blood Angels, Space Wolves, etc. should not have to play like Ultramarines.
The action is constant, in a great way. Skirmishing happens from the start with your first units, and it doesn't stop. It however is much less hectic to play than say SC2. The infrastructure management is much more relaxed, similar to DoW 1. It keeps your eyes/attention on the fun part of the game more often. The units and their awesome abilities, scouting, attacking, positioning and defending.
Anyway this is getting too long, the game is dope, I was wrong. See you on the field.
