Well, I have been here since the beginning after the initial trailer, and it seems as though the initial impressions were correct. Relic do not seem to have taken onboard any of the feedback received as far as I have seen.
Elite units seem overpowered, and there is little variation in possible build orders and strategy compared to the previous two games.
Also one of the biggest errors in my opinion, is the sacrifice of the visceral WH40K artstyle, animations, and ambience, to make way for increased clarity, I think many including myself would have still bought the game despite the flaws if it had hit the correct mark, along with providing a decent single player campaign. Relic have completely gone head over heels for the competitive scene which is going to be the defining mistake when people look back on this.
On the positive side, I really like the variation they have introduced between the armies, with Eldar, Ork, and SM all having their own distinctive units and abilities, it is just a shame everything else is missing.
Anyway, I expect there is little room in these forum for dissenters, and I expect this to be flamed to hell or locked, but after being on this ride since the beginning I wanted to post my final opinion after seeing the actual release. Sadly it is just as I and many others who have probably already left these forums had been predicting. Luckily there is still a big community for both DOW1 and DOW2, and so we can still get our WH40K RTS fix from elsewhere.
