Hi! I'm pretty new to the Warhammer universe, My knowledge of these games is purely at a tertiary level.
So Dawn of War 3 is super new to me.
I've been playing it for a bit since release and I wanted to know if any of you have had the same, or similar experiences which prompted this thread.
I find that I"m running out of Resources really quickly. Which isn't a problem in and of itself, but what i'm finding is that I'm not being super efficient with my units. I'm still trying to understand the pacing of this game.
Do you all have any build strategies when it comes to using gaining your resources a bit more efficiently? For example, I'm never sure when I should upgrade my resource generator, or add the power generator to my resource nodes.
Do Space marine snipers give you all a hard time? I keep losing low econ games against Space Marine players who use their snipers. I can never get close enough, and for whatever reason when I send in cloaked Gretchen they get handled quite handily. I figured the Gretchen reveal spell would give me some high ground vision, but that wasn't the case
Also, is there any way to add Units to your control group? For example If i have some boyz in Ctrl grp 1. Can I then Shift+Ctrl+1 another group to add them to my ctrl group? I've tried it, but I haven't had any success. I'm wondering if the game has another way of going about this.
And finally, does anyone know if there are plans to support a mode with no elites? I'm not finding them incredibly interesting to play with or against, but that may just be due to my Novice status with this game so take that with a grain of salt.

My advice is to build less generators in the early game and less/no listening posts. As Ork this gives you a little extra req to make more units and be more aggressive with right from the start. I only build 1 Req Gen and 1or 2 power Gen to begin with.
If you hold shift you can then select additional units. Then you Ctrl group them, once they are all selected.
Not sure about this one. Which elites are you using?

Hey Sambino! thanks for the reply and all your help.
Thats a little unfortunate abouthe the control groups bit. I was really hoping you could select a unit that wasnt in your group. Then Ctrl+Shift+ Group number, to add them to a group tahts already been assigned, but ah well. I can play around it.
I'm using the ones I was given originally. So beaut, Gorganutz, and the rocket boyz. ( I think thats their name). The rokkit boyz dont really do much for me, and Beaut da orkanaut is just incredibly good. Several games I've played simply came down to having Beaut on the battlefield and baking her up with the occasional Loota and Nob. Not super appealing to me.

Yo. Just to be clear about the control groups: if you have 3 units of ork boyz bound to the 1 key and a shooter boy unit that is unbound you can press 1 to select the boys and then hold shift and select the shooter boy unit to combine them. Then you could ctrl + 1 to bind them all to the same group.
I believe this is what you where asking.

Yo. I wanted to write this before, but I thought I should check it first. You can combine groups using the shift key also: if you have a unit of boyz bound to 1 and a unit of shootas bound to 2 pressing 1 and then shift + 2 will select them both.
Sorry for the double post

One more point on the control grouping. The unit portraits along the bottom of the screen are useful. If you CTRL-Click one of the portraits, it will select all units of that type. Then you can easily control group them together.

I'm not sure why you haven't had succes with this, as it works just like you described it for me. Just select a unit and press Shift+Ctrl+(group number), and it adds the unit to the group. I haven't had any trouble with this method and use it all the time.
