Community Update: May 4, 2017
5. MAI - KAT_RE
Hi everyone!
With one week – and millions of bodies[www.dawnofwar.com] – behind us, we want to say a huge thanks to each of you for joining us on the battlefield of Dawn of War III. After years of development behind the scenes, it’s a thrill to see you dive back into the universe, whether you’re ripping humies limb from limb, or are bringing down the hammer upon filthy xenos!
So, what happens now? Well, our work doesn’t stop just because the game is out. We’ve been busy poring over all of your feedback[community.dawnofwar.com] and sharing your gameplay videos around the studio. Now that the game is in your hands, we’re excited to let you play a role in how it evolves. Welcome to the team!
To that end, we’ve got some upcoming news for you below with more to come next week.
Patch
On Monday, we’ll get the ball rolling with our first patch. This will address some of the bugs and issues you’ve flagged with us (so long, invisible Bonesinger!) but will also include the addition of a Surrender option in Multiplayer. We give special props to those players who chase a comeback to the bitter end, but we certainly want to give you the option to concede. If you surrender, you’ll receive Skulls and experience as if you lost the match. Check back on Monday for the full patch notes!
Servers
On Tuesday, we’re taking aim at some of the input lag being reported. Thanks for your patience on this, and for sending in your feedback. We have servers in multiple regions around the world, but we've found that some players aren't connecting to the servers closest to them. On Tuesday, we'll start to refine which servers specific regions connect to based on latency data from the first week of play. We’re going to keep an eye on this and tune it over time.
Balance
Later this month, we’re rolling out our first balance patch. It’s too early to give specifics but right now we’re looking carefully at units that players are skipping over (looking at you, Tactical Marines…), abilities that seem harder to counter (ahem… Zapnoggin’s teleport), and the factors that affect whether you can come back from a loss in an early match skirmish (how escalation phases are working).
Now’s the perfect time to let us know what you’re seeing, and how you’re playing. Striking the right balance takes time, but your feedback is really helpful.
We’re watching, reading and listening. Keep it up!

Jelly
I'd probably write the same thing if I were a community manager. I guess we'll see the truth in this come patch day; if certain mechanics we mostly agree are over-performing (ie. power swords) go unchanged, Relic will need to provide a comment or else people will continue to feel ignored.
Sigmatus
Well, Zap, it's been fun.
vindicarex
Yay - Relic Cares
Algorithm
Just so there is no misunderstanding. Balance changes most likely wont be seen on monday. Its too early. But i agree that providing comments or updates like this on Steam go a very long way.
PaperBaG
Any news on when ladder/ranking system will be out?
MetalSlime
Fist of Gork remainz a good option for slammin' humies over walls. But yea, teleport2win will be missed.
Zim_4Life
Please FIX Cooldown for Eldar Wraithlord Command: Improved Webways ( doctrine ). Becouse now they can teleport Webway gate all over the place in T1 without cooldown.
Gosu
Fix eldar. Eldar is beyond OP.
Relic plz
wongtp
plethora of balance discussions out there.
please look into insane nuke abilities. assault leap, banshee quick strikes, scrap sabotage, macha spear and blast combo.
power swords to t2.
tac marines reinforcement cost to reduce.
tone down escalation phases for base resource gain multiplier so unit costs will still hurt economy late game and will not make it incredibly spammy.
elite units to cost req n power
Doobeedoo
Why not just give Tac Marines more hp? Then they won't need to reinforce as often and they'll also feel a bit more like tanky armoured SPEHSS MEHREENS in keeping with the lore.
SykA
Well now if we're going like this then... Relic please NERFxterminatus the Orks and SM into the ground. I want 2hp ASM and 5hp Gorkanaut. XD

It's also here in the News section: https://www.dawnofwar.com/article/community-update-may-4-2017
Nice to hear their plans, hope they fix the input lag. Seems that it is indeed hitting players in some regions harder than others, as we suspected already.
UnknownRobot
Good news, however still nothing about key bindings
Renner
I hope it will also fix the bugged campaign achievements. Looks promising overall.
nerva2940
Fire Prism buff please!
Wa2Magge
yeah, i also want to hear something about that, they say they want to add a leaderboard System, hope there is no delay for that
OriGinS
The lv 8 webway gate doctrine needs the cool down reduction removed and just have "can use relocate at tier 1" IMO, this will fix a lot of issues with Eldar balance.
Stoner
Well, they read stuff, that's very inspiring. They have loooong road ahead, but that's the start.
Btw, what's wrong with Zap's teleport? He's extremely squishy, when you focus him, he get down in no time, that's only logical for him to be able to tp. Though his Fist is the real problem, esp when it flies your way outta the fog and wrecks couple of squads along with immobilize followed by the horde of Boyz...
Katitof
He can be as durable as some melee early elites when he is full on scrap, he is only squishy if ork player ignores gathering scrap with him.
His teleport provides uncounterable instant nuke you have absolutely no chance to react to and you will lose whatever squad he teleports into, if not from initial teleport nuke, then from the Q ability.
Pretty much only his Q ability is balanced in his kit.
wongtp
its the damage around him when he teleports, almost instant, does large amount of damage in a short time. tping is fine, the damage is not.
fist is just part of the problem for him.
Stoner
I meet Ork pretty rarely in quick match, so I was lucky enough to avoid TP inside my army so far. Thanks for the info.

This is great news! looks like Relic are keeping a close eye on things and making changes where necessary. I think the success and failure of competitive MP game's like this all depend on how active the devs are post release. This is a good sign and hopefully will carry on into the future development of DOW III.
P.S. Please include the Function key delay fix in the update, would make mine and a lot of other people's days

Erm... from the link you obviously did not read:
_We have servers in multiple regions around the world, but we've found that some players aren't connecting to the servers closest to them. _
Wa2Magge
Sorry that you are angry about them, but thats a Problem with Balance, it will motivate the Players to Play more the game to rank up in the leaderboard.
Kharneth
Logic doesn't sit well with you, does it?
If you live in south america and are currently using the server in china your lag will be greatly improved when they fix this issue and have you connected with the server nearest you. They didn't claim it would be a 100% fix. They said they will continue to monitor it and tweak it as they move forward. Games have lag. You cannot be on the internet without a degree of lag. Not all lag is created equal. But, not all men are created equal either, someone always has an advantage. You're mad at Relic for not being able to 100% cure lag?
Gorb
I think if we could stop calling people mad, that would be great.

Well, my guess it that matchmaking prioritizes guys in the same region. If the player base is big enough there should be no problem. For custom/private games or if the game dies too soon and the player base is small... then you're right.
