I think the most recent game I played was a little over an hour. The fights kept coming to a stalemate in fights until we devised a plan to draw the other team out so we could quickly rush them to win the game. Like a slight of hand. Fun game and my game didn't crash this time.
I think there should be (rethink?) another mechanic so that Elites are not so readily available. Like, increase the importance of having your Elite alive. Give them value. Yes, they are valuable on the field, but once 1 goes down, another is almost readily available.
Currently, if you purchase an Elite with your elite points. You have made a final purchase and have only to wait for a cooldown to get the Elite back on the board. The cooldown does not increase.
I feel like it was much more impactful to have just 1 Elite on the board for each team vs. having 3. I'm not saying that the mechanic should be like DoW1, but at least in DoW1 when the "elite" unit hit the field it impacted both the enemy AND the user. Impacting the enemy by having to deal with the Elite unit, and impacting the user by having to drain significant amount of resources in order to put it on the field of battle.
With the adaptation of 3 Elites in DoW3, it gives each match the potential to be drawn out and last longer. Basing less of the match about building units to outmatch your opponent strategically, and more about wiping the lineup of Elites in order to create victory.
My thought is: Add both the cooldown and elite point increase to each Elite after death.
Each Elite costs it's specific amount of points. If the Elite dies, a cooldown is applied and the amount of elite points it takes to bring that Elite back into play is increased. This way, it increases the importance and strategic value of dropping your elites into battle. If it dies, that is fine, but now it makes the user think about how they want to spend their elite points. (The ticker for the attaining elite points to increase or decrease in speed may need to be adjusted)
Fights over the Elite Points on the map will be the same since that's what most people fight over for the majority anyways. It may increase slightly.
I just think that it creates a better strategy for how Elites are played during a game. This way it effects the User and the Enemy.
