Everybody and their squig was bemoaning the single game mode at launch, and while I'm loving the game I can't disagree that variety would add a lot more replay value and ultimately lifespan of the game.
Annihilation, FFA and victory points are some staples, but I had an idea for a new mode that I've been warming to.
Assassination/elimination - each player starts with a finite amount of elite points (set before the match), and from that pool of elite points they choose their elites. The goal is to eliminate all of the enemy elites, which cannot respawn. No additional elite points can be obtained. It's up to the player to decide on fewer, higher power elites, versus more, less powerful elites. Since the game was clearly designed with such a strong emphasis on these hero units, a game mode focused on keeping them alive would be neat.
One problem I can think of is the power level of some of the elites; a game really shouldn't start with everybody in tier1 with the usual starting resources if players could potentially have an imperial knight already stomping around. For that reason it would be sensible for everybody to start at the highest tier with ample resources.
Thoughts? Any better ideas for game modes?
