Well, I think the problem is "Players".
First, according to feedbacks, I think players do want DOW3 to be the Remake DOW1 or the Remake DOW2. I have a question：if Relic really does it and then they charge players 60$ and do players can accept this?
Second, what players really complain is not only one mode but is that there is no traditional "Annihilation Mode". Players just do not realize they are rarely really use the traditional "Annihilation Mode" to win the game, in most of case, their rival does surrender.
Third, I think about the hatred of Power Core mode is from the hatred of the domination of MOBA. It's really have nothing to do with this design. Some players say Power Core mode lacks Strategy, but I say every game design has its strategy. Players have to choose to destroy Top shield generator or Button shield generator and then players have to choose to destroy shield generator or turret and then players have to choose to use which routes to attack the rival's Power Core and there does exist strategies.
You can don't like it ,but it's does not mean it doesn't have strategies.
Forth, The strategy of Building.
A lot of people say there is no strategy of building in DOW3, but I will say it's because they don't got want they want. In DOW3, players have to place Forward Base Buildings wisely to reinforce their army and ELD has webway gate to place and ORC has Waaaah Tower to place, so there does exist strategies.
What those players want is just Turret and they want to use turret to make a turtle strategy. I would not say there can not have turret, but what's the role of turret? Is the defense Role? We already have Listening Post and HBD and they can do the defense role, so the turret is not the necessary thing. If "Turret" is powerful and hard to be destroyed and then players will say turret is OP or the turret is weak at attack but hard to be destroyed and then players will say the turret is the same like Listening Post. So, what should Relic do?
Besides, the building numbers are less than DOW1 but the function is not. Taking SM for example, the generators are merged, the mine are given to scout squad, the turret becomes pre-build by default, the satellite station becomes Drop Pod mechanic and the medic building becomes Heavy Weapon Building, so Relic is just simplified them. Why do players want to waste resource at not necessary buildings? (Except turret.)
