In Dow1 and 2, seizing the middle ground was important for resource benefits and win conditions. While the former still applies now, on some maps it is less important because the middle ground points are actual elite point generators. Maybe I'm missing something, but getting an elite slighter earlier isn't as good as a general boost in resources as it's a benefit that only applies for a period of time (you get an elite 1min earlier than opponent, then they catch up).
Sure, that's handy, but it's handy at one point in time whereas having more req/power has a greater long run snowball effect as you accumulate extra resources throughout the rest of the game, get extra troops / tech that give you an advantage in ALL future battles.
So my question is - do maps need to ensure that the middle ground points are (mainly) resource based, to make aggressive gameplay worthwhile?
