I'd like to start off by saying that I like the overall design approach for DOW III, I can see why certain gameplay choices were made to create a competitive multiplayer game. A lot of the current frustration I've seen comes from changes made compared to the previous iterations. This is always going to be the case seeing as how popular the Dawn of War franchise is. Balancing issues are also a source of contention but then it is in every competitive game and is sure to improve in future updates.
The reason for this post is to do with dev feedback. Looking at other AAA game studios one thing that is a common factor in the better ones is the great feedback given to the community from the devs. Creative Assembly of Totalwar: Warhammer have an excellent track record of keeping the community excited and hyped through the use of videos of new units in action and even just small teasers in the form of clips and mysterious letters hinting at possible future content.
When DOW III was about to be released there was a lot of excitement and anticipation and I put this down to the great use of unit spotlights and gameplay videos. I understand this takes resources to do which could be more better focused on actually creating content but what I'm suggesting is a more basic approach in the form of small dev blogs and the use of other social media to give some insight at whats to come.
I know there are a lot of DOW players who have decided to wait out until more content is released. With some good dev blogs and teasers I'm sure these players would be eager to jump back into the fray. I think its important to retain interest as a strong supportive community can turn a good game into a truly great one but this only comes about if feedback goes both ways. There's a lot of very passionate players who want to see this game succeed(me being one of them). Please consider giving the community something to discuss and provide good feedback to. If not that then even just something to get potential new players excited and interested.
TL;DR Good Dev feedback creates a more positive and supportive community. Creating hype through the use of teasers/vids/blogs brings in new players as well as keeps current players invested.
