@Kat_RE hi, i think with the new patch and some balance of space marines and eldar you can start with new race, im talk for all when i say we NEED new race, only with Chaos or Necrons (prefer chaos xD) you win a lot of time for do other content and etc. Im think we survive a month without content but waiting new race (only with some balances or bugfix, some skins can be perfect)
This is how the game should have been released, and then unveiled the Mobo mode a few months after... ppl dont like change as much as yould think, they accept it through options so they feel a sense of control. Glad to see Devs who want to listen to a player base and make a change for the better.
Looks ok Relic, but I am still not sold. Give me a VP mode with large enough scale maps to support this ala DOW2, and I will buy the game. Annihilation is better than what we currently have, but it is still pretty boring compared to VP mode.
I have a feeling we could be waiting for a full blown expansion though to receive VP mode, in which case I'll hold off my purchase until then.
Plenty of people are still watching the progress of the game, so you still have a chance to get things right. Just give us a decent expansion.
Well, I'm glad you're at least acknowledging that there are a lot of problems with DOW3. Please let me know when you have restored the core aspects of a Relic/DOW game, those being environmental cover (maybe make the bubbles a buildable defense like turrets), morale and morale-breaking weapons (flamers, artillery, etc.), flanking damage bonuses, suppression, and unit veterancy (I know this is more of a COH thing but DOW2's campaign had it too).

Not gonna happen dude. The core game mechanics would make that useless. The Eldar have a defense wall and its terrible. Your asking for directional damage and overall a new game. That wouldnt be worth the effort.

Problem is, masses of the core DOW player base was REPEATEDLY asking for the points that Servius raised over and over before the game was released. Now that I'm sure they've not taken as much money as they expected they are finally starting to listen to the criticism - it's hard to sympathise when it's apparent this game was just supposed to be a cash cow.
I shouldn't get personal but Philippe Boulle should feel very responsible for some of these failings, he came across as extremely smarmy before the game was released and just buried his head in the sand with regards to the fans criticisms and made a game that HE as a Game Director wanted to make, not necessarily what the fans wanted.

Well, this is life after all. Not always we all - I mean Philiphe, we gamers and every human on this planet - can get everything we want. And that's good in my opinion, otherwise we all would end up more selfish.
For me its better apprecciate what we have or we are getting.
I don t think it s a good Idea to just listen fans. Because people only want the crap they know without imaginations. Relic try things, this time it doesn t work.
As a customer (too Old).. i want different games, not just a Dow 2.5.... so crossover between inovation and old stuff is good for me.
It s strange to see what people want here, there s so much incompatible opinions about this game.
I think relic try to please old Dow fans and get others people interested in this game. They clearly miss their goal as they don t retains enough elements of old dows (or not the good).. and lack of contents people angry giving bad reviews.
More a time to market or budget problem. At first start game just seems a game with little budget, bad interface, lack of content, only english voices...dow2 has a lot problems at start too but it seems more complete than dow 3.

I feel like vp is gonna boil to 3 billion setup teams vs artillery/snipers to try and dislodge em.
They could easily blend VP variant with Annihilation, as is it was in DOW I and worked flawlessly. I don't see the point in releasing two practically identical Annihilation modes - one with pre-set Turrets and another without. They could put a little bit more effort and f.e. turn Elite Point locations into VPs, because it's very risky to build Elite gen and thus pretty much pointless to even capture some of these points, at least in 1v1 that is. This blend as second game mode would be perfect.

You can still flank and cut off enemy armies in this game you know that right? Dont need a damage modifier for that. It literally adds nothing to the table except makes flanking moves more punishing.
Morale cant be implemented in this game units are too squeeshy for that. They would have to rework morale to be a numbers thing that could only be damaged and broken if enough squads die.
Not sure why people hang on too Morale that much. It wasnt that big of a deal in DoW 1 anyway because it got hardcountered by Early/midgame by most races and was just a afterthought at that point. If they can implement morale to work in DoW 3 great but if not i definantly wont miss it.
@Kat_RE gj with the support so far.im a fan from IRAN and really love your game and will support it till the end.new game mode seems good, skins are nice and balance changes would be great if added with these stuff
what i want from you is to:
1-continue balancing all aspects of the game (elites+doctorines+resource rate+units)
2-rework some of the less used doctorines (and even elites)
3-most important:adding more races to the game (i know creating new race with doctorines for dow 3 is hard but 3 race for a dow game is not enough at all)
this game has lots of potential.i hope u guys keep up the good work and add more content to game.dont listen to those stupid haters that even dont say what they want and just complain.sorry for the bad english

By flanking, I didn't just mean attacking from a side, I meant that cover should be positional, not omni-directional (like those bubbles), and so if you are attacked from a direction not covered by...cover, then you get no damage reduction from that cover. Seen another way, that's a flanking damage bonus. And, yes, the whole point of this is to make flanking moves more punishing. That's why flanking matters.
To morale, exactly. The units are too squishy already. They should be physically toughened. And morale was important because it provided another lever, another avenue for tactics to matter. For example, artillery isn't very deadly, primarily because it's usually not very accurate. But it does have a big psychological impact, and affects morale. And sometimes you can win by pushing the enemy, you don't have to kill them all, or at least not all right now. It also gave another aspect to combat that allowed factions to differentiate themselves. Races like Space Marines had tougher morale, and so didn't break as easily, as opposed to Orks, or Imperial Guard. If you're battling against different factions with different strengths and weaknesses, including morale, then it could affect your tactics, and what I'm mostly aiming for here is the return of lots of things that used to provide some tactical depth to DOW games.
Basically, I want DOW to be Company of Heroes 1 in the WH40K world. Because COH1 was amazing. Distinct from the other RTS giant, Starcraft, and made better by it's focus on tactics. I'm also fine with adding new improvements to that model, too. So, I think the idea of hero units is fine (but just remember that the more micro a special unit needs, the more attention bandwidth it takes from the other units, so don't overdo it). I think the idea of pre-selected doctrines acting like DOW2's wargear is fine. I think adding new MP game modes is fine. And I'm sure these folk at Relic can think of other great ideas too.
And while I think most of us are probably okay with the ditching of Westwood's and Blizzard's resource mining mechanic, what I'm not okay with is Relic's removal of previous great ideas (morale, cover/flanking, suppression, and veterancy) that added a lot of tactical depth to the game and character to each unit type. I'm not okay with how most units that aren't heroes are super fragile and end up being treated like cannon fodder or glass cannons. I'm not okay with the cartoony animations. I'm not okay with the forced faction cycling in the campaign. Go the SC1 route and include good, self-contained campaigns for each faction or the more greedy route SC2 took by breaking each faction campaign apart, pretending they were separate games instead of expansion packs, and charging full price for each. Or the DOW2 expansion route of letting me play through roughly the same campaign but with each race separately. There are many ways to do this, but don't force me to play factions I have no interest playing in order to see the story through to the end.
Holy hell, I'm laughing so hard right now... Took you long enough! We TOLD YOU this wouldn't work, you didn't listen, we told you this wasn't warhammer 40k, you still had your thumbs in your ears and sang kumbaya so loud you thought it would blot out the sun. It didn't. This apology together with the 25% decrease on value only tells me that I wasn't the only 40k fan to say "nope not my money Relic not today, my brain is still working". Sorry to say but it only serves your right that this is being a bust, plain and simple, you had your warning with enough time to avoid the titanic disaster this was, and with the negative comments on steam I imagine it was a very crude wake up call. I'm not sympathetic to you Relic. This "measure" despite being an apology, only serves now as damage control and to members of the 40k hobby it STILL won't make us buy the game. You know what I did buy? Deathwing, deathwatch and Dorn's legacy. They at least pay homage to the source material.
I hoped this served as a lesson of humility to the suits in charge of Relic.
With the changes you propose it would probably be cheaper for relic to make a remake of CoH1 than implement those
bunch of stuff:
-They have been exclusively nerfing AoE, so units are indirectly getting tougher.
-If you make cover directional you make it useless against elites, weirdboy f.e. would crush cover positions. Flanking moves are incredibly punishing in the game already cause they often mean that you loose your squads instead of saving them when they are low.
-I think they had a lot of interesting ideas with morale in DoW1, but in the end it barely mattered. Ofc you could try again to make it work, but there's a large risk that it wouldnt add anything to the game and just be wasted time. I agree that it's an interesting concept though, just not in a fast-paced game.
-Imo Retribution had the worst DoW campaign to date. It neither had the story and atmosphere appeal of DoW2 vanilla and CR, nor the strategic options of DoW DC or SS.
-suppression is in the game, veterancy while cool on paper would ruin it, because the winning side would snowball even more.
-if you treat your line units like cannon fodder you aren't very efficient.
@IAmOnlyHereToSpitSpite: sure pick your cherry. Pretend that regenerating and healing SMs are canon and that the gameplay in those games is exactly like in the Codex, including 3 SMs killing hundreds of enemies. Or understand that good gameplay sometimes requires ignoring the source. Your call.
Btw I used to play TT back in the day and am quite a fan of the franchise.

Believe it or not alot of the people that dislike DoW 3 will be coming back as DoW 3 gets more and more fleshed out. It also helps that DoW 3 plays better then the previous 2 DoWs and relic has made some really good improvements to the game over the other 2.
You can laugh as much as you like because DoW 3 is probably going to exceed DoW 1 and 2.

8 A.M. PDT = 5 P.M. CEST = 4 P.M. BST
In proper format this would be:
