Honestly, I am really curious about how many issues are really due to the balance problem and how many issues are from players don't know how to counter their rival's strategy.
Part I - What's the Base of the Game Balance be based on?
I. In DOW3：
I am not sure about it, but I guess it's be based on players' feedback and DATA. There is not a full function Ladder, so I think Relic is hard to use the Different Ranks DATA to do adjustment.
II. In SC2：
Their Leader has said that the balance mainly be based on "pro gamers" and they are also try to make game be balanced at each Rank in Ladder.
I think it's very difficult, because the Knowledge degree is very different between Master and Bronze.
Part II - Do players really want to know how to play?
I. Do players really want to know how to play?
[I] This is my Huge Question!
I have seen a lot of balance feedback, but all of those do not provide how do they counter their rival, and only said some unit is OP or some Doctrine is OP and so on.
[II] Before nerf, we can think how to counter it.
Why don't you provide your Army combination and Build Order to let us to help you to figure out how to counter your rival?
Players also can watch the replay to know what's the rival's plan and then they maybe can find solution to counter it.
II. Or they just want to win?
[I] If players do not just want to win and then I think to adjust the request title would be better.
Like, how to counter TSM's tireless doctrine? But not to say tireless doctrine is OP, plz nerf it.
Part III - What does RTS game lack?
I believe is the "Knowledge of how to play the game like a pro gamer", not those tips. Only tips are not much help to play the game.
I think maybe Developers want to let players to discover those strategies by themselves, but now a day, there are not many players know how to play RTS games and do not know how to discover those strategies.
Most of Players just use their instinct to play the game and they maybe try a few times and then if they can't figure out and can't not win and then they quit the game.
Part IV - The Purpose of Multiplayer Mode(Especially 1 vs 1 mode).
I. Now a day its purpose is competitive.
II. It means if players want to win and then the game forced them to play in some way. What I mean is that if players use the "Casual Way" to play Multiplayer Mode and then the defeat result is foreseen, so it means players have to use "Pro Gamer's Way" to play the game and then the win result is foreseen.
III. I think what DOW3 lack is some "Casual Conditions" for players like "No Rush", "No Elite", "No Doctrine", "20 minutes Treat" and "Early Surrender" conditions.
IV. I think those players go to play those conditions will be happier than we force them stay in the Power Core mode.
Thanks for reading.
