Nice update, I think balance patch shouldn't be top priority. Many may disagree but I think the next balance patch should be when the next DLC race comes out. As the balance will go out of whack anyway once a new race is released.
Keep up the good work maybe with each patch add more cosmetic options adds a nice personalized touch I think everyone apperiates.
While its true that a new race will upset balance a bit it does help to have balance close to the sweet spot when a new race comes out. Because than you need to only balance the added race to the existing races. Usually.
Sadly, not true. Usually new race brings new play features which require changes to the existing races so they can counter the new race. That disrupts the old
Balance. Also Relic usually adds a new unit for each existing race when new race comes out so that throws balance as well.
Edit - love the Gabriel skin and other skins. Love the look of the new map, looks like possibly new assets in the world builder which has me excited.
I think It at helps to have balance in the sweet spot. Once you've done that you can establish a 'baseline' of power and ability interactions and decide how you want your new units to interact with that ecosystem.
Achieving balance before adding units is like calibrating your instrument and in my opinion is utterly essential in order to do it well!
I'll also repost from another thread as it's relevant here....
I think these additions are great. Balance needs longer to play out I think, even if we think we've got it sussed it's better to be patient and have better data to work with.
Equally with the tourny coming up next week a balance patch could throw things. While, as an Eldar player, I'd appreciate that- I think it's much fairer having everyone going in with a solid understanding of how the game is playing rather than one guy figuring out some OP strat that catches everyone odd guard and cheeses the tournament.
PLUS, while I think everyone agrees that balance favours Orks currently and scout spam - the tournament is the perfect testing ground for our assumptions. I'll be playing Eldar and am fully anticipating getting my ++heresy redacted++ handed to me (by both higher skilled players and Ork players AND higher skilled Ork players) but I'm certainly looking forward to seeing how it plays out anyway.... whether it's Nob rush all the way or whether in the next week someone figures out a decent counter strat

speaking of customization, what is even more important to me aside from elite skins is more variety for the line units as well. are you guys planning to introduce line unit skins at some point? because i would REALLY LOVE to have skins that let me paint my Dark Reapers, Dire Avengers, Shadow Spectres and Howling Banshees via army color. it's really sad to always see them in purple/white only.
Well I understand you, but Aspect Warriors have own sacred colors. So it makes sense for me that they have fixed colors to make them lore-friendly, even if I don't care about lore so much when it comes to WH40K.

These skins and map look AMAZING! Cant wait for this. One question: Do the campaign skins take on army colors? That Codex macha looks SO GOOD with the helmet, I want it in my army colors.
Thanks for all the work you guys are putting into this great game
Yes, your Army Painter colour choices will affect the new skins - including Codex Macha!
Are we going to get skins for all the elites? Cant wait for a wraithlord skin. He has one of the most well done animations for the elites. Pity he is under-performing in comparison to his racial counterparts.

Don't count on it, unless we're talking space marines, the visual variety of 40k armies is very poor.
+The skins coming currently are mostly "you can now use own colors here" stuff.

I suppose everyone is waiting for either chaos or necrons. Who knows maybe in 1-2 years the game may change completely ( eg elder scrolls online looks different now vs at launch).

Hmm, MMOs are a bit different though considering they have a constant stream of income from subscriptions and microtransactions. But I hope you're right, I think this game still has potential.

Thanks for your comment. There are a couple of things to consider here!
We had a lot of leeway with the skins that we'll be releasing in July, but for certain units (whether that's an Elite or a line unit), there are some pretty obvious lore implications of changing their primary colour(s). We work very closely with Games Workshop on how all characters look, move, and sound - and skins are no different! A lot of conversation and back and forth goes into determining where the sweet spot is - that is, allowing for better customization options, while still respecting the setting. The line units you mention fall on the stricter end of that scale. So we can't take them any further at this point.
thanks a lot for your honest and transparent response! but this makes me even more sad looks like i will never get a proper DARK Reaper in black colors...
Hi @Kat_RE , I really appreciated the skins and the way of more personalization (I'm really agree with the helmet skins and the change of colors of the Elites) but I need to ask you, could you tell us something if you are working on a new race? Some clue? At least if we have to wait after 2017. I really think this game need a race and knowing their possible date or the next race would make many players hype or even buy the game (I have a friend who would buy the game if the Imperial Guard would be released)
Thank you for this update, it's a pretty cool package. More content is always good ofc.
As was mentioned in an earlier comment, I don't see why you can't release maps for all three versions of gameplay. The 2v2/3v3 maps seem to only have the difference of base location. Is it really not possible to just set the base locations for 1v1?
As an aside, could you possibly start highlighting community maps? A little attention from the devs should help generate some interest in both map making and could potentially get community made maps into the ladder which would be pretty sweet.
The further customization of armies provided by these skins is a really cool addition! And the map looks great as well. I think any mention of a new race on the horizon would sure get a bunch of folks really riled up

I'm copying this earlier post I made on the same topic, since it still applies:
We’re not sure. We’re still processing launch feedback and figuring out how that changes where we go from here. Producing a full army with elites and abilities would have to be prioritized over months of other work. Obviously we’d love to make it happen but we need to figure out where our time is best spent based on the feedback so far.
@Kat_RE
Please buff my micro and nerf my opponents. Presently this imbalance
has been there since launch and it's unacceptable relic hasn't done anything about it yet....

Please fix period select all infantry so it functions like it should. It still selects workers.
That very much seems to be intentional. Workers are the only detector units in the game and it helps to include them in your armies. What would be useful would be to have a separate function to select all non-worker units, or even a hotkey that allows them to be excluded from group-select. If that's even possible.

I will never criticise a patient or cautious consumer. Withholding purchase is largely a prudent course of action, especially with video games. But I can only think of two forms of useful "support" for a game: buying it, and playing it. Fill the pockets of those who created it or help improve it's status as a living game so that the creators can justify further investment from their publishers. I'm sure your intentions are good but I wouldn't consider forum activity supporting the game.

relic the feedback want more races: 8 of 10 person wait a new race, the rest wait a good balance but we have it (it's imposible have 100 % balance), only have problems with the orks of 1 vs 1, but the rest, elites, customization, maps, etc it's lower priority than new races.
