So, i've made this clip of dreadnought droppod + landspeeder with melta killing the eldar main base in 2 seconds while watching the 3v3 annihilation tournament.

There was also some kind of damage resistance debuff(from the droppod itself?) on the main base that might have contributed to the damage but still its way too easy to snipe the main base like that imo. It doesn't seem like a lot of people play annihilation right now but it might become a big problem if it becomes more popular, like if it gets added to automatch or something.
I guess increasing the health on the main base might be a good idea. It costs like 200 power if i'm not mistaken, so it should be much more durable imo. Also not sure the droppods really need to do any damage to buildings. Maybe remove it alltogether or at least change the droppod damage type to normal?

haha - yeah there's no need for discussion on that one! Simply a case of nerf the sh!t out of that kind of play. IMO drop pods should be unable to land on structures like you said - that clip is almost a bad joke!
Jelly
Unreal. How can people go on insisting this is not a problem?
Stoner
Chill out people, Relic did state they gonna increase buildings hp in next patch. And dreads aren't the only problem, pretty much anything with AP/True can delete structures in a blink. Even in 1v1 post T2 skirmishes, most buildings get deleted as collateral damage, lol.

Well, i'm fine with regualr barracks\warrior portal\whatever that cost 200 req dying quickly to av damage. The main base in annihilation is kind of a big deal though. Same with objective buildings in power core mode.

If Annihilation is going to be a competitive game mode, there needs to be a 'no-drop' zone inside the main base or some kind of HQ shield ability like the power core shield, because dealing with this kind of ++heresy redacted++ is way too tedious to be fun! Especially with no shield gens / turrets there is no reason why SM players shouldn't 1 shot an HQ with a dread at 12 minutes like so.

"Increasing building hp" - As if this is the problem and drops are fine

Making drop pods unable to hit buildings would be a simple fix. While there is some counter play, it is certainly way easier to execute this cheese for easy wins than it is to execute the counter.
I'd like to note that we still won that game @Bersercker - back doors are strong but only really so from behind. If you're winning, you can use some of that advantage to try and nullify the damage done by back-doors.

Drop pods will no longer deal damage to buildings or objectives next patch.

Source on that?

I dont know in which threat the devs have posted it but they have said it for sure.
