I wanted to flag up some issues with the matchmaking system. Some are bugs and some are design problems.
Vetoes not working / map bias
Today I've played about 6 games, rolled about 9 maps (3 games my opponents dodged/dced). There are 3 maps I've not played today, yet I have rolled Crucible of Vaul 4 times. This is despite all 3 members of my team vetoing this map. I've also had Solarian's Gate twice. I am pretty sure there is some inherent bias towards the Crucible of Vaul 3v3 map, because it seems to come up all of the time despite vetoes. Though I've only taken mental note of the map roles for this morning, I believe this is happening all of the time. Nevertheless the veto system is clearly bugged, as maps that are vetoed seem to pop up with equal regularity, though I can only give my subjective viewpoint on this.
The playerbase for this game in multiplayer is currently pretty small which means that I recognise by name usually about 50% of the players that meet in matchmaking and sometimes all of them. It is extremely common for players to avoid games against players they think are good or who are playing as a team while they are searching solo. This means it can take an extremely long time if I am playing with even 1 friend to find a game in certain situations ... I think it would be justified to change the system so that players do not know which players they are up against before the loading screen, or else people will continue to dodge games that they don't think they can win by closing their client. This is how it works in a lot of games and I think it only makes sense to use this system in given the currently low player count in this game, there really are few benefits to this and also skews the matchmaking system. Please consider.
As I was writing this post, I yet again rolled the Crucible of Vaul map, again despite vetoes... This map is really not good because matches are always over in 10 minutes. This is the fifth time today with less than 10 games...
