Because this is made for dow3. They will never remove power core mode, never. What they will do is to tweak how it works, how much benefit you get from destroying objectives. But i would bet all my money on it that they will never remove the power core mode. Also i like it to be honest. Vp mode is also not bad, pure annihilation is kinda boring, was good in the dow1 days ages ago. A sg just shouldnt grant a ep, thats to much of a benefit early on.
@Predz said: @Czevak even if you added those races may have some play but will they stay. space marines are the most play and favourite of all armies in 40k yet this did not keep players around. orks and eldar are also highly popular yet this also didn't keep people around, you may see a small jump but in most cases it will probably drop quickly. imo this won't really help the game and something else needs to be done but as 1 person i don't know what, cause at this stage relic have tried things but yet the numbers never improved, added annihilation mode(maybe this was too late) turrets, time to kill etc.
I'm more leaning towards a rework but is that even possible atm, do relic have the funding for it or can get it from Sega i don't know. I'm more leaning this way because i just don't find the game fun and i play Orks in tabletop(so the army didn't keep me in the game) , I would like it to do well and thats why here and there i check forums, Cause if it truly dies there will be no more DoW games after this(most likely).
I stopped playing daily cause there is no CSM. Also we didn't get daily tasks to get skulls to unlock skins and skulls got removed wth stupid development choice.
Yeah waiting on Chaos meeeself. I was hoping they would have expanded upon the skull system. It could have been, really cool.
I stopped playing daily cause there is no CSM. Also we didn't get daily tasks to get skulls to unlock skins and skulls got removed wth stupid development choice.
Good point. Whatever path Relic chooses, I'd like to see them do something to make the game feel alive. Having daily/weekly challenges, tournaments, leader boards, etc would make DOW3 feel like a living community of players. I wouldn't mind seeing skulls come back as rewards for playing more or participating in events. They could be cashed in for cosmetics only. That would be a huge incentive for people to keep playing or at least check in to see what's new.

Exactly this. We can also get unique models for each chapter unlocked by skulls. Smallminded Relic and do not tell me i am bad cause they FAILED DoW3. Almost all my posts were most welcome by community about things to happen, balance etc.

Now seriously, what power core mode is STILL doing in the game?
Power Core mode is something I like and enjoy, it's like sudden death condition in DoW1 made correctly, problem is it's only this almost. We need to add Victory Points + Annihilation + Resource win + Control Area among with power core in ONE game mode to have deep strategic games.

Amoc is right , coh1 and coh2 started with only 2 races even, but they were still successful.
Relic games are liked due to their mechanics that make the battlefield feel alive, things like varied animations and cover.
Success of CoH series had nothing to do with number of factions.
WW2 is extremely popular setting, especially within RTS genre and within that setting, CoH series is the best made, most immersive and overall not a singular other WW2 RTS is even close to how good CoH series is, even Men of War series is faaaaaaaar behind.

If WW2 is such a great and popular IP why do so many companies bother to license GW IPS instead of getting WW2 license for free? You talk so much ++heresy redacted++.
Risk management.
What would be greater risk to you?
Trying to compete against market behemoths without having even a fraction of their capital
or
Trying something within the market that isn't over saturated by sheer quantity of similar products nor have any of said behemoths around and you're literally the biggest one around(relic case in DoW series).
Battleborn vs Overwatch or any MOBA to ever exist except for LoL, Smite and DoTA2 would be the examples of why you don't just try to milk certain type of the game, it translates to IP as well.
Sure, you can make a WW2 shooter, but will it live up to CoD WW2 or BF1? Its likely it won't even be noticed.
GW on the other hand is unknown seas, literally nothing defined the IP within PC gaming yet and DoW series proven it got potential.
That's why developers venture there, in 40k case to an IP with well established fan base and they try to appeal to them - there is demand for 40k games, can't say the same for WW2 themed games, which are being released for past 20 years.
Now, going with 40k license does not mean you'll succeed, but it certainly means you'll habe higher chance to due to simple lack of competition.
Plus, in Relics case, they already cover WW2 IP as well.
Hence my last paragraph.
People bitched for DoW1, but it would be horrible without massive changes and then people would ++heresy redacted++ about massive changes.
People bitched for DoW2, but then it would be too CoH-like and people would ++heresy redacted++ about that.
The only way for relic to win here would be to never do DoW3 at all-literally all negative opinions about the game come from die hard fanboys who never wanted another entry, but hd remake of whatever they jerked to for last 5 years.
@Katitof , that's why I'm asking: if these fanboys want a hd remake of their favorite installtment, why not simply ask for a remaster, not remake?
As for hd remake, it doesn't work at all always, look how bad start had Cossacks 3 for being just a Cossacks 1 hd remake, even according to Metacritic it has currently 63 and 5.4 for critics and user scores respectively, with most at the former being mixed, why at the latter being negative.
I know that Cossacks3 steam reviews are currently positive, but it doesn't change the fact that Cossacks3 had suffered bad start at release.

It suffered bad start because game was ridden with gamebreaking bugs plus brutal lack of content. Slimy devs try to ride nostalgia train too much by delivering broken game with less content than original, trying to make money purely on old title without any improvements whatsoever. It is not Cossacks 3 exclusive situation btw if you catch my drift. Game got better reviews lately because at least some bugs are getting fixed and some improvements being made.
Modmakers accepting pay is a tricky matter, thanks to copyright - they are not the copyright owners and thus shouldn't be generating income off the back of it, or at the very least are liable to prosecution on the behalf of the actual copyright owner. Bethesda, the copyright owner in their respective case, have the right to take money from mods and also grant a portion of the income to the mod creators. In this instance, whatever Relic or Sega are likely to do, Games Workshop are known to be very litigious with their copyright and would likely issue a cease and desist if somebody started profiting from their property without their approval.
There have been cases where mod creators have made themselves open to payment - like Grorc, the creator of the DoW1 DC/SS Titanium mods, but it seems that Russian modders have been able to get away with things like that for whatever reason. Maybe they simply have not been caught yet.
At any rate, the video linked with the sisters of battle textures are not that of the Men of War mod. They are the work of a modder known as Eranthis who has retextured all/most sisters of battle units, and remastered a lot of vanilla audio. If I seem defensive it's because I'm a fan of his work and its irksome to see it credited to somebody else. His work can be found here:
People been quite furious at Relic for DoW3
Have you ever seen this game being discussed on the internet?
Its seething hate at DoW3 that people see as an insult and seething hate for Relic for the perceived ruination of their well liked franchise
People just dont "dislike" DoW3, they hate what it represents.
Those are the tens of thousands of players that quit the game in less than 5 hours or refunded it
If anyone thinks that this section of the consumer base will just swallow their pride and come even glance back at the game again with any intention other than morbid/mocking curiosity I would like to point out that consumers are , for the most part, irrational.
I personally think this game is kinda doomed
But if Relic wanted to give a shot, definitely new content , in the faint hope that non biased NEW players try it out

Maybe doomed, but its still good for me to see that Relic is still working on it. Though I wouldn't expect a expansion, but it would be a nice suprise to me. Still, I greatly respect devs for still keeping forward with this game despite its odds.
Right now, I think that there is no point to try take back old fanbase, this game has now own fanbase and even if it is a handfull one, this game has still keep going with it.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but consider also that for many years people hated GW and what it represented. However, it was the sole owner and manufacturer of Warhammer 40'000 and related products. People would curse GW one moment then pay them money for their products the next. Similarly and relatedly we have people who hate Relic for what they did to Dawn of War, but love Dawn of War and wish for nothing more than another worthy instalment. I think if what is perceived as a return to form comes around there will be many who return, albeit with a lot of "I told you so"s. Though I do think that there are people who nearly demand blood for their disappointment in the new game - a direct quote from even this forum from one such person is that Relic "literally backstabbed" their fanbase. It's emotionally charged to the extent that I do think you're right in saying that it would take swallowing of pride for some to hypothetically return, and I do think a lot never will even if Relic produced a miraculous revamp, but I don't think all of those thousands are burned bridges.

No kati, they didn't want THIS game. THIS game flopped immediately on release and it's because it wasn't fun. People didn't like it - the design, the SP campaign, the lack of features...etc.
Rather than get your panties twisted and blame the FANS for the problems (a completely idiotic line of thinking), try to consider (I mean just TRY) that Relic may have failed to deliver value to customers.

The thing is they would have to put VPs in secluded areas away from resource farms. And yes pretty much like DoW 1 with control areas.
