I've bought this game on steam sale, despite all the negative feedback. I agree, it has its own issues, controls leave a lot to be desired, fonts are small, weird unit light make units stand out from the background too much which adds to the "cartoony" feel and I hate jumping gabe as much as the other guy BUT the actual gameplay is pretty good. Base building is back, elites from DoW2 are still here, first half of the game plays a lot like DoW2 with relatively small armies, weak early game elites, and big focus on micro, doctrines are a good way of adding flavor to your army although they could use some balancing, and the late game is about big fights with big armies and super units we've never seen in DoW franchise or any 40K video game for that matter. Yeah, there's no cover, but witch how much is going on, controlling multiple squads, using their abilities, putting 25% of your army in cover would've been at the buttom of priority list.
Anyways, what I don't understand is if you hate this game so much, for whatever reason, why are you still here? It's been 8 month after the release. I could've listened to all the negative feedback and skip this game and I'm glad I didn't but I'm sure many people did. And the worst part is I've checked steam user profiles, a lot of people who say the game is bad don't even own it! How do you expect the devs to support the game, release expansions and fix stuff if they are not getting the subsequent revenue?
