..........Especially if we take as a recent example how Microsoft and Forgotten Empires handled AoE DE. I often visited AoE forums and what I learned from its people is that AoE: DE was still a broken mess after a release, with no support since its release aside few patches. Even there is also Chat issue that still isn't fixed.
I learned also that AoM: EE was also broken at release and even more with the release of ToeD expansion.
While I wouldn't be upset over Dow1 remaster, I'm actually worried about what would happen if Sega would give such task to a more incompetent developer than Relic? I'm not insulting devs, but AoE DE shows how a remaster of a cult classic can be still easily screwed up compared to original.
Feel free to discuss.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 HD edition (basically the remaster) didn't include either expansion, the first of which added the random map generator which gave the game most of its replayability.

A DoW1 remaster would contain all the over a decade old mechanics, such as poor path finding, so what people would really want is a remake, but this would come with its own issues. A remake would likely not include the expansions, limiting it to four factions which we know from a number of DoW3 haters wouldn't go down well. The maps would probably also be the same in a remaster, as well as the campaign, so it would basically just be what we already have but looking a little better, with possibly less content.
