If I'm not misunderstanding about damage type in 'Dawn of war 3'. Currently there are two type of armor which are 'infantry' and 'vehicle'. There also have three damage type with 'Normal', 'Armor piercing', 'Critical'. Normal type damage can 100% damage to 'Infantry' and 75% damage to 'vehicle'. In contrast Armor piercing 100% damage to 'vehicle' and 75% damage to 'infantry'. 'Critical' deal 100% to both armor type.
The problem is current 'Dawn of war 3' have to much simplified with those damage calculation. For example, Horde of eldar 'Ranger's can destroy light vehicle or building. If they only effective to kill 'infantry' type there is no one won't complain about 'Ranger' spamming. This is same situation in 'Company of heroes 2' which snipers can kill the infantry well but no one complain about it. Because they can't kill vehicle or building. In contrast, about ork 'Nobz' are using 'Vehicle' armor even they are 'infantry' type. If player want to against those close combat unit. Must have anti-vehicle units, even they are 'Infantry' when appear middle in the game which faster then vehicle.
So this is my suggestion 'Add one more calculation type with size'. I mean some weapon will treat one more component for it. If 'Plasma gun' can damage to 100% 'Infantry' with 75% 'Vehicle', but add one more thing about 'Infantry size' can deal 150% damage. For example, 'Nobs' are treated with 'infantry' with 'vehicle' armor with 'infantry size'. Normal gun fire will same damage like past(If normal shot 100 per shot 100 * 0.75=75 * 1.0=75) , but when player using 'Plasma gun' with paying high cost resource it can deal 75% damage for vehicle armor, but adding 150% damage to 'infantry size'_ (If plasma deal 100 damage per shot, 100 * 0.75=75 * 1.5= 112.5 per shot)_. The conclusion will be player can against those 'nobz' better than before. In sniper, They can deal 100% to 'Infantry' and 75% to 'Vehicle'. If adding size, They can 100% damage to 'infantry size', 75% to 'Vehicle size'. This will they can deal with 'infantry' with 100% damage but for 'nobz' they deal 75% damage, for vehicle type with 'Vehicle size' they can deal 56%. 56% will take same to building which already has 'Vehicle armor' with 'Vehicle size'. Also Anti-vehicle units can trait 75% to 'Infantry size' and 150% to 'Vehicle size'. This will stop the Anti-vehicle units spamming for late game to kill all the things and doesn't need to lots of them for killing the high HP owned vehicle units.
**Damage * Armor bonus * Other bonus * Size bonus = Conclusion ** (All damage number not correct, just showing it easy for calculation)
Lascannon damage per shot 15 when fully charged. Against slugga will 15 * 0.75 = 11.75(Current) * 0.75 (add size) = 8.43 / Agaunst Nobs will 15 * 1.5 =22.5 * 0.75(for size) = 16.8 (current is 15) /Against Vehicle will 15 * 1.0 = 15(current) * 1.5(add size) = 22.5 / Against flying infantry will 15 * 0.75 =11.75 * 1.5 (Don't know how much additional damage to skimmer type, so 150% is not right, it's temporary number) = 16.8 * 0.75 (add size) = 12.6 / Against flying vehicle will 15 * 1.5(Vehicle armor) = 22.5 * 1.5(skimmer bonus) = 33.75 * 1.5(Size) = 50.6
Sniper damage per shot 30. Against slugga will 30 * 1.0 = 30(Current) * 1.0 (add size) = 30 / Agaunst Nobs will 30 * 0.75 = 22.5 * 1.0 (for size) = 22.5 /Against Vehicle will 30 * 0.75 = 22.5 (current) * 0.75(add size) = 16.8 / Against flying infantry will 30 * 1.0 = 30 * 1.0(size) = 30 / Against flying vehicle will 30 * 0.75 (Vehicle armor) = 22.5 * 0.75(Size) = 16.8
Personally, Current 'Dawn of war 3' to much simplified with those type calculation than other version. Maybe it will better when adding those one more thing.
