Was simply hoping for some kind of content beyond a graphical effect.
I say this as a Dawn of War fanboy who owns all other DoW games/expansions/DLCs, but I will be passing on this one.
Also FWIW I just learned that it seems to be a bit of a Sega thing? They sell blood DLC for Total War series, a series I do not follow. Seems like a strange type of DLC series to me but yeah.
I'm sorry for sounding like a hater but I can't help but saying "Ridiculously expensive bloody pack"
Seriously, 2€ for a graphical effect? I know, I know: it's optional. But man... Wouldn't this be a great FREE GIFT at least for previous owners of DOW2 Retribution? I won't support this. It's not what I hope videogames will cash in in the future.
And just to clarify: I'm not angry at all, just highly disappointed. And I felt I should tell Relic and Sega I highly disagree with this. 0'5€ would be reasonable, but still... It's just a graphical effect! Maybe with a multiplayer map it wouldn't sound so ridiculous (BTW, nice name they chose XD).
Entirely up to you for vote with your wallet, but unless you have experience in "just graphical effects" you probably shouldn't assume how much work it took to make it. This including the marketing, Steam upload (Valve takes a cut, etc) and whatnot as well as the technical work involved.
Making it free for all owners of Retribution wouldn't exactly do them any good. It's not exactly a game people buy much these days; they wouldn't gain anything on future purchases worth mentioning.
You won't convince me that original Retribution (40€?) costed just 20 times more than this blood effect to develop. Anyway, I respect you see this price fair.
Because it breaks all the old replays Non-optional
Every update breaks old replays. I doubt the other people are disappointed for the same reason you are, as it's possible that different people have different reasons for their feelings.
Needless to say the game has had several updates in the past several months, all of which have broken updates.

I didn't say that other people are disappointed for that reason.
Needless things to say indeed
