Jeez, and I thought Wolfenstein and Titanfall were pointlessly too large And i'm REALLY curious now why it's 50 gigs.
COH2 is about 28 gigs, which includes the Soviet campaign, the Theatre of War campaigns, the Ardennes Assault campaign, and all the FIVE factions and MP maps.
And the weird thing is, we barely know anything about DOW3 despite it coming out next month on April 27th. So there's 3 factions and a linear campaign where you switch-and-play with each of them and... that's it that I think we know. We haven't heard if it's getting something of Theatre of War content later (I guess Last Stand), we haven't seen that much of the DOW3 campaign other than the Space Marine snow map, the Eldar marsh map, and the Ork map. Granted, I appreciate not being spoiled Oh, and we haven't seen any footage of Multiplayer, probably the mode that will keep most of the community around.
I mean, that is quite impressive that they still haven't shown any MP footage this late. A part of me worries that DoW3 may be... rushed Like COH2. I dunno, I feel like Relic was supposed to have a bit more time but then the higher ups wanted the game out by April so that would explain the sudden deadline and lack of much footage or information outside of the campaign mode.
EDIT: Oh, regarding the size, let's speculate what's taking up most of the space. I know in some games they use Megatextures/High Res textures or uncompressed audio, both of which dramatically increase the file size of the game. Those or maybe the game will have a TON of content (which so far we haven't seen much from DoW3).
I'm awfully curious what could make DoW3 seem so large, esp. compared to CoH2. Like all I can see being a major factor would be the audio? Relic usually delivers on some amazing audio work so maybe this time they are using FLAC/uncompressed audio? Visually i wouldn't assume it's megatextures Content, i'll be amazed if all we saw was just the tip of the iceberg
