I have not been following development too closely, but I gather that closed betas are going on, with open beta on April 21st (PvP Mode only). So I understand why the focus of balancing discussions, strategy, and general feedback here has primarily revolved around Multiplayer Mode. I can tell just from one glance at these forums, where I came to talk Single Player stuff... but didn't see many threads about it.
I am (respectfully) hoping that the developers don't forget that there is a certain demographic of RTS fans who purchase a game just to play the campaign. I am one of those consumers. There is nothing more enjoyable for me in the whole ++heresy redacted++ world than firing up a long, story-rich RTS campaign. I love to have the ability to hit the pause button, go outside to smoke a Lho-stick, come back and play for a bit more, then maybe grab a snack or soda, and throw my feet up on the computer desk to go at my own pace. I LOVE building more turrets around my base than is appropriate and I turtle up like a rabid sea tortoise on steroids. I absolutely cannot stand RTS PvP sitting forward on the edge of my chair, pounding black coffee, mutitasking a million things in my head, and making sure my APM's are at least 100 or more. For those reasons, I LOVED DoW 1, and I greatly disliked DoW 2 which ditched the base building for more PvP oriented play. I respect others who do not agree with me on that point- I'm not arguing Coke versus Pepsi here, I am simply speaking up on behalf of a certain portion of this community.
I get that MOBA's are hawt right now and so is PvP E-Sports, but please don't forget about us Campaigners. We are out here too!... BTW I'm looking forward to the game very much. It sounds like PvPers are going to get a pretty neat MOBA-like experience. I'm hoping that Single Player Mode has just as many features and attention to detail too!
