yea!
gore exist in $#!t ton of RTS games, but sync kills do not.
if the devs are removing sync kills for competitive reasons then it's most likely that they are going to the E Sport field, and if that's the case i don't think the game is going to survive for long without proper funding ( which i don't think relic have )
They should focus in competitive and casual at same time, and if the game is good and competitive you will hear of dow3 for many years contrary to what you say
yes that's a good idea except E sport already have a RTS game........ star craft which is funded by blizzard.who spend a lot money every year to keep star craft as the primary RTS game in E sport, if Relic has enough money sure that's a great idea.
casual gamers on the other hand is a smarter choice .................if DoW is a AAA title, and marketing is a key factor when it comes to casual games. did DoW achieve this........ that's up to you to decide
Actually sc2 died time ago... The game play is extremely simple so no one play it only koreans...

yes but Blizzard still funds plenty of money to make it look like SC is the giant in E sport RTS,such as funding youtubers and websites to make videos and pages (although i didn't saw much activity this year) or making the recent SC expansion
well, from what ive seen, the gore/vehicle wreckage in dow 3 doesnt go away. at least thats what it looks like in the pure gameplay I watched, where I predator blew up near the space marines base, and the flaming wreckage was still there 20+ minutes later. so thats pretty neat. ill take that over sync kills.

Yeah Good Luck competing with Blizzard.Do you realize the RTS competitive community is small? And the majority is taken by Blizzard? How much percentage a game like DOW 3 can take from Blizzard, 5%? Is that enough?
Cmon, let's be realistic here.
Actually sc2 died time ago... The game play is extremely simple so no one play it only koreans...
The game is sitting on 300k-400k active players on a daily basis...That is pretty amazing for a dead game.

I just thing the gore and viscera looks lame and gratuitous. I think that the models being thrown around or bouncing looks cooler.
I think they need to try to be more realistic about this. There are plenty of suggestions out there for varying death animations etc ettc. Best part is these suggestions are actually good and wont require that much more work. Mix of ragdolling gore and different death animations would definantly make the game cooler
Dead animations in DOW 1 where perfect, I liked how you could see the bodies of your fallen enemies on the field and sometimes of your allies too.

the problem is DoW3 is being developed similarly to StarCraft. such as fast paced combat, unnecessary clarified units , mass unit blob combat and overly simplified tactics.
you can say that DoW3 is trying something new and doing this to compete and yea the game might be good. but what is the targeted audience?, the WH40K fan that was with the franchise sines DoW one and who continually stayed with the game for what it was or the casual gamers who are unpredictable(you might ask why not both......if that's the case do you see whats happening around)
further more content for DoW is taken from pre-established lore from a famous franchise(WH40K) unlike other generic titles which have lore made specifically for the video game. so DoW moving away from the lore pisses of a lot of people. or more specifically WH40K fan which is the majority of the DoW fan base
the mass unit blob is also mostly because of it being campaign footage, I feel. the eldar dont seem to have much in the way of aoe shown yet, unlike space marines, which means that they're free to mass up and a-click. but this is also campaign stuff, and who knows what other toys the eldar might get.
Lest wait and see 1vs1 dev matches then judge... you are looking press guys playing a campaign mission.... I am waiting the multi player videos but I suppose they have to revel all races first..

LoL was released before HON. So when LoL was released there only few MOBAS like Dota and Demigod (dead at release) available. Saying noone should make an RTS game because of Blizzard is pure strawman. Warhammer Total War was a wrong example because the game is totally different from Starcraft. Total war warhammer sticks to its roots and preserves its community, which is the Total War community. This reminds me of the MMOS who believed they will topple WoW. The examples of MMOs who died trying to copy, enhance WOW is in the dozens of titles. They all failed and WoW is still by far #1.
The same with Starcraft. I am still casually playing Starcraft 2 thanks to its amazing modding community. And blizzard just released a huge patch for free to cater for the community that complain about the competitive focus of the game which made casual players to leave. But Blizzard solved this problem with a huge latest patch, which i believe will bring back a huge part of the community. Blizzard has a lot of money, they can pop up a Pixar grade short film on a monthly basis...no company can ever do that.
But, does that mean nobody should make an SF base building RTS? hell no. But if you copy elements from Starcraft 2 and try to enter the competitive scene from the same gate as Starcraft 2, then you will simply fail, unless you make a perfect and flawless game. Dawn of War 1 was in a very good position to hold the second place until it gets improved to the point of really competing against Starcraft2. Relic screwed up everything with Dawn of War 2. Now they want to take back the chunk they lost with DoW2 and attract Moba fans. Crazy i know, but if it works this will be the most successful title in Relic history.
I am not necro this thread but seriously is it just me or are the current death animations incredibly edgy?
I mean when you see a big unit charging at a bunch of marines you would expect to see it sending them flying by the impact right? I just loved how it looked in DOW 1 when your commander hit a bunch of models and sent them flying or the squiggoth charged.
But here they just die in a huge pool of blood. And gore it's just gross and edgy, ughh. If they give us the option I wil turn it off or tone it down.

And at DoW vanilla beggining the competitive players were actually the bigger part of the player base cause of WCG and hipe. The game died in competitive scene with the release of Winter Assault, that pretty much ruined gameplay dumbing it down to a point where no strategy or even skill was needed, just cheese and abuse.
It is true, it was all cheese and spam, that gameplay should had been an option like:
Play winter assault mode or standard mode.
Yes it would had been more labour when it comes to balance but, I dont know. Just my cents. Dark Crusade brought a bit more balance back for a while but SS outright killed it and ridiculed it. Only people that want to play with different factions seem to love it for a reason.
SS balance is WAY, WAAAAAY better than DC balance. Its still not good, but WAY way better.
Cause Iron Lore actually listened to the competitive community. For myself, after Vanila 1.4 days the best balanced DoW1 itneration is SS. DC is just necrons and Tau walking over everyone else.
Oh, and give tau a invisible cap unit was a BAD idea. Tau mirrors alone were the single reason i stopped playing Tau. Imo both of the races made by iron lore (DE and SoB) had a better design than most of the races made by relic, specially Tau with invisible cappers... omg it was so boring, running around with vespids trying to kill oponent cappers while trying to save yours...
EDIT: Oh, and the pace of the game was reduced in SS, in DC, THE ONLY strategy is fast tech.
At SS its still fast tech, but you had to at least think of a timming to attack, be it T1, T2 or T3 and commit to the attack. In DC the only viable strategy was fast tech to t3, cause tech was so easier that commiting to an great attack before that was insta lose. (Safe for necrons, they could run people down on tier 1)
Sure thing, that's why it brought a race that could produce free requisiton, and AOE abilities and had flying units that where not designed for the sort of ground gameplay that dawn of war has. Also Iron Lore ended up in bankrupt before the game even finished so your argument isnt even viable. Also I disagree with your DC being necrons and tau, what was early Grey Knights + Chaplain early game? Orks where pretty nasty too.
Only Tau where broken but once the first patch entered both crons and tau lost their cheese. Also I was top back then and I mained Orks.
SS had god awful gigantic maps that where designed for who knows what, people kept playing the classics like Oasis sharr, burial grounds, forbidden jungle and EVEN center of tartarus! BTW the fast tech strategy was actually Winter assault one. In DC you could actually build an army from the beggining and keep it on late game, so your argument its quite invalid... AGAIN.
So first you say SS was slower than DC an now you say it was fasteR? Make up your mind... Still your argument its invalid unless you where of THOSE kind of scrubs that buried themselves in their base teching and not being attacked cause your opponent was also a scrub. And by the sounds of it, sounds like you where.
Did you even played winter assault? If you tought fast teching is a thing in DC then you have absolutely no idea of what the spam fest of winter assault was, everyone rushing to tier 3 and the "screw you" harrass of tier 1" or simply outright end it during tier 2 before your opponent got a chance to spam their tier 3 units.
You really don't think or are you pretending? I don't know about what map people "choose" cause i played Automatch, ALWAYS, just choose map for tournament play...
I don't know if i really try to explain the basics to you, you have proven time and time again to don't be very smart and pretty incapable of catching even simple concepts.
For instance, i said that the TECH SPEED in SS is slower, not the gameplay...
Oh and DC had tier1 units even in lategame, but that is not cause tier1 units where effective, its just cause the trully effective units got HARDCAPPED. DC had faster tech and cause of that SLOWER GAMEPLAY as no one cared in make a tier2 push as it is best to just wait t3.
If you played automatch then you surely must know of the attrocity that was automatch in Souls torm with their gigantic 8v8 maps when it came to a 1v1 game. It was long and nefarious. But if that dont seem to be an issue with you then I guess you where really the kind of scrub that got inside their base teching. Also automatch in SS, pathetic and hilarious, just spam sisters of battle and you would go on top 10 no time. Competing only against other SOB spammers.
You have been proven time and time again to be very disrespectful and to not make sense of things, tech speed in SS being slower only helped turlte players and scrubs, just as teching in WA took A LOT of time as well and look how it ended.
You are pretentiously talking of a competitive scene that never existed on a game that was the laughing stock and was the definition of mediocrity. Why do you think people "the good players" remained playing DC?
Note: How you gloat and insult me on that simple thing.
Ofc DC had tier 1 units even in late game why do you think I said it before. Tier 2 was just to get the tanks and upgrade your stuff - tier 3 only gave you super units - but you could still beat someone that got at tier 3 before you with your tier 2 stuff. Getting angry and contradicting yourself aint gonna help you when discussing seriously. Anyways I am done talking about this subject on this thread. Create a new one.
