I know I may be the only one excited for the new game mode. But I was thinking of how unique future factions could be when it comes to interacting with this game mode. I'll start first with my favorite dudes, the imperial guard.
The imperial guard would be a heavily defensive faction specializing in locking down their lane and objectives from being destroyed or taken. Their unique field building would be a bunker. A squad can garrison it and fire in 360 degrees at enemies. A line of bunkers could be strung together to form a wall that also creates vision cover for units behind it. Shrouding your defensive zone in secrecy. Further the builder unit would have the ability to fortify a vehicle, essentially turning the vehicle into a static defensive structure on the field. An example would be a chimera that got fortified would turn into a flame bunker that also operates as a forward reinforcement point.
Now for their unique abilities. The imperial guard would have a unique passive stance called Hold the Line. This stance gives army wide bonuses to defense and all heroes and elites will have only defensive abilities. This stance would then change to Unto the breach! When ever a friendly objective is destroyed, such as a turret. This changes the army wide effects to switch to aggressive ones and all hero abilities to attack oriented ones. This would allow for devastating counter attacks to help reclaim lost objectives or to pay the enemy back in kind to hopefully destroy one of their objectives to equalize your lost. Further this stance could allow a player to reverse a lose on one lane to a gain on an other. This stance would revert back to the normal Hold the line after a minute or so. Maybe have there be an option for a player to pay resources to extend the duration by a little longer.
Lastly, their super power would be the most unique: a defensive one instead of a pew pew one. It would be Emperor's Bastion. This power allows the player to fortify an objective to give it a huge health boost. This could be a resource node turret, a shield generator, or even one of the mega lane turrets! This would further cement the imperial guard as a defensive faction. If no other objectives are left to fortify perhaps a vehicle could get a temporary armor health bar to make them super beefy.
Anyway, what do you guys think? What cool ways could we see future factions introduced in new unique ways that interact with the modes.
