There is already a Chaos God of Hate and he is called Malal!
Archwarhammer seems to be a greater Deamon of Malal though.
@shmoulki
DoW1 had the same issue with explosions filling the screen. But thats just normal when big battles happen. And did the community not cry for bigger battles?!

Great video, thanks for sharing.
I tend to agree with most of his points.
The youtube comments are glorious:

I think we can all agree that communication has been pretty bad. I guess I can't blame them with how vitriolic the community has been, but it still sucks for those who are looking forward to the game. Just look at how CA handled TW:Warhammer and there was some controversy early on too.
It's not even that Relic doesn't listen, they have made changes according to the early feedback. They changed the lascannon animation, they made the environments more grimdark, they made the blue outlines an option. But it doesn't look that way because they don't talk to the community at all and info on the game is all over the place.
The lack of communication, with the launch date being suddenly revealed two months before release really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The game itself looks good, but that's my number one concern right now.
LeemanRuss
Relic there is a chance of redemption here before its too late plz listen to the community both old fans and new try to plzzzzzzzzzz both sides listen to suggestions such as:
add more mods in release date .classic Annihilation capturepoint .....etc
add more line units and be more effective role like dow 1
add more maps large 4vs4
return cover system at least
a 4th race to ease the pain
add turrets

People complained about the changes DoW II made to the formula, back in the day. There is very little difference here (and again, people had understandable concerns and fears, too).
Everything I am seeing; the reactions, the dramatic announcements from community members . . . it's all been done before. All anyone can do is wait and see at this point. Maybe even wait to see if Relic do an open beta or product demo.
That said, communication is not likely to be something Relic have direct control over. This is complete speculation but marketing is normally handled by the publisher. And this is without getting into the debate about the trade-offs of communication vs. lack of communication.

my fears are like this when i read comments at archs latest rant and i am afraid it will end like this fate

I can think of plenty of games where the developers don't (visibly) play the game, and many more where the developers do, but get criticised for "not being good enough".
There's a counterargument in every case, you see. Not every developer wants to sit on Twitch and have abuse spammed at them while they livestream
AsgarZigel
The TW:Warhammer community is a pretty good example of how it can work. CA has a dedicated community team who communicate with the playerbase and do regular streams that of course have to be moderated.
Maybe Relics community team is too small or they just aren't allowed to talk about anything, I don't know.

I think we will have a real multiplayer gameplay video this week.
I have no clue, it's just my intuition.
But yeah, I do agree that releasing the first MP videos by the press was a bad idea. Only one or two press videos are not too bad.
Now, the damage is done.
And add to that this new gameplay mode, inspired by MOBA, and you have a massive sh*storm on the internet, even if those in the beta say that the MOBA part is not so important, and it's still a RTS.
Now, it seems to me hat internet has decided that DOW3 was a MOBA SC2 clone, and no matters what Relic will try, internet won't change his mind.
We have to wait for the open beta/demo to try it by ourselves, but I fear many players won't even try it.
I'm worried to be honest, not by the game itself, I'm pretty confident that high level games will be really interesting to play and to watch. And actually requiring more skills than DOW1 & 2 ever did (that's an opinion, with 0 min played, so take it with a grain of salt).
But I'm worried that the game will not gather a big enough crowd.
shmoulki
the environment showcase and a the prophecy trailer were very well welcomed, most of the devs make real videos about their vision and their project while answering to the fears of the community. For Dow3 everything went from Pre-alpha cartoon screenshots to MOBA caracteristics game without any support from the devs. Of course people hate this and they express it.
When a game looks interesting I check steam reviews and I'm pretty sure DOW3 will have a VERY bad start on steam, it disappeared from steam top sellers after 2 days...People are not ready for it because no one talk to them before...
WarbossGogangash
I agree with the price thing. It won't attract anyone who doesn't familiar with warhammer or dawn of war.
Renner
Unfortunatelly, saying how the game ships with only one game mode will make the uninformed people thinking how there's no campaign. Says how the sync kills are the Relic thing, even though those were never a part of the CoH series. Ignores the fact that the Space Marines animations were changed in the meantime, saying how they are running like in diapers full of #$%&, even though they are mostly on par with his precious DoW2 atm... Oh well, whatever brings him views and clicks, I guess.

Arch brings up alot of good points albeit polarizing ones and Relic can learn alot from Blizzard on this point. Blizzard didn't LISTEN AT ALL to the community or professional suggestions like micro transactions, skins or voice packs or internal client things like chat clients or a reason to ladder like free ++heresy redacted++ when you do so.
This reddit post covered alot of those points created by one of my favorite streamers who played the game professionally.
https://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/11m21k/starcraft_2_will_be_dead_before_legacy_of_the/
Blizzard quite frankly ignored a good portion of this commentary and rarely talked to the community about it or the balance changes and by the time they did actually decide to create a dialogue and initiate changes the tournament scene was on the decline and the average player base moved onto League and Dota respectively killing the Starcraft community because Blizzard did not listen and only focused on the professional scene. This is both a good thing and a bad thing for Dawn of War 3 because Relic is obviously focusing on the casual portion of the gaming community to try to bring in the biggest possible audience but its not communicating with the current core audience about issues to allay fears and like it or not the casual moba community would be pretty hard to turn into a core audience especially with a 60 dollar price tag barrier to entry. Maybe if they made the multiplayer free like Blizz did later on while having you pay for a single player campaign could create some buzz and interest but unless tehy add a rewards system and a micro-transaction skin system I can see the same lack of interest as starcraft did in the years post HoTS. I hope Relic is listening and learns from Blizzards mistakes but with a month to go I have some serious doubts
shmoulki
Yep, price is another big problem. 60$ for a game with almost no content hurts...How do i know there's almost no content?
First the devs never care to tell there will be, we don't even know what playable units are availables for each race!!! only speculations from trailers and beta!!! make videos about units of each race, sell them, build the hype, JUST DO SOMETHING TO SAVE YOUR GAME!!!
On the contrary, what we know for sure is that there is only ONE campaign, ONE multiplayer mode and THREE races only.
Most of the F2P games on the market have more content than that...
WarbossGogangash
I won't throw away my steam account just to get the game for a more friendlier price.
GuruSkippy
What do you mean.
I already bought games on this kind of website, they give you a key, you activate this key on steam. What is wrong with that.
Gorb
You buy from third-party (reseller) sites at your own risk; there is an increased chance that the keys weren't-obtained fairly and can be subsequently revoked.
I'm not saying this always happens, but you need to be aware that it can.
The gaming press is a bit different from the greater state of press that covers world events
I completely understand people want to see higher-level games, but there are barriers to that as well. Developers only have so many hours in the day, and they tend to spend all of those actually working on the product. Dedicating that time to streaming game content (which they'd need a special build for that doesn't reveal anything that isn't meant to be shown yet) eats into the time they have to do their regular job.
GuruSkippy
I do appreciate that you try to defend Relic, when most of the community is not. I really do
And you're right, it takes time, you have to select a good game to cast, or good players, chose wich build to show the game etc.
But it's not a matter of time anymore, It's a matter of reassuring people, wich are running away from DOW3 before it even started.
And as I said earlier, I do not say that for me. I see this game potential.
I say that for all people not seeing it.
Gorb
It's not even defending Relic, really, I just normally get stuck that way in any debate. There's never exactly a shortage of critical opinion, whether it's understandable or not!
In this case, I completely understand peoples' concerns, but I'm just saying this isn't a quick or even possible fix. The way that this is being handled in general will have been planned months ahead to make best use of the developers' time. I don't know this for a fact, but this isn't the only high-profile games developer I'm familiar with, and it's a common pattern across the industry.
So I expect these complaints, these concerns. I understand them, and I figure more than one person at Relic does as well. However there's a difference between constructive commenting and a snowball of FIX THIS NOW (for a certain undefined meaning of "THIS"). Because, as I said, I saw all of this with DoW II, and it went onto become a very successful product.
There's a difference between a lot of the replies in this thread, and the rather over-the-top tone employed in the video with regards to Relic's future and the success of the DoW franchise. Personal opinion time (no moderator badge), but when websites do that gamers normally complain that it's clickbait
GuruSkippy
No, the words "defending Relic" were not well chosen.
What I mean is you're more kind of like a wise man, talking with its brain first, and not only with its heart or emotionally, like many people here. Me included sometimes.
Xileh
Dude...the other way around. Moba is inspired by RTS.
GuruSkippy
Moba speaking to RTS : "When I left you, I was but a learner, Now I am the master"
Gorb
I see you skipped where I said "they'd need a specific build of the game which included no content and balance changes they're not ready to release to the public yet". Come on, let's have a little tolerance and respect for people with different opinions to you.
Developers don't sit around twiddling their thumbs. Honestly, they don't
g0ll0
I'll not bother with ArchW, in all of his videos all I see is "I want DOW3 to be exactly like DOW2" he ask for retreat, buggy dow2 cover, input lag etc etc...
He doesn't even acknowledged there is a big dow1 community and before dow2 there was DOW1 what bothers me is the he thinks he's words are facts which is wrong because DOW1 was more popular more played and more praised than DOW2...
Im with Bigamo about the dev gameplay videos, Blizzard did that in the past and works well, I prefer watching someone that knows how to play than some press guys that only play overwatch...
And talking about the price $60 it is a little expensive IMO taking into consideration that the game only has one multiplayer mode (the moba one) but there are worst things.. Overwatch was $50 with no content only 5 maps no ranked and no campaign and blizzard paid reviwers so it got 90 in scores.. that's why I don't came anymore about PCgame or the press...
vindicarex
Agreed - just as the DoW1 community just hated the direction of DoW2 at release - so too the same pattern emerges with DoW3. I think, at this point, only time will tell how successful DoW3 will be.
g0ll0
Well I like the game play of the game.. it seems fun to watch fun to play the only thing that bothers me is the Moba mode but everything else seems ok at least this game seems easier to balance than the previous ones... Remove the moba from multiplayer and you will have a beautiful rts
