Elites, wiping squads with one skill and how it creates tedious time outs.
Abilities which can wipe entire squads are not a good game design, and even if it’s true that spreading your troupes minimizes the losses or predicting those abilities helps dodging them, it doesn’t change the fact that in the fray of battle you can lose half if not your entire army because you didn’t avoid one simple skill. Elites should be support units, like in DoW1 and DoW2, and not meat grinders, and in DoW3 they’ve the tendency to be more meat grinders than support units, that being said some elites have amazing support ability such as Macha’s Stasis. I’m not against having elites which are specialized in dealing heavy damage, such as Jain Zar, but even those elites shouldn’t wipe squads, but instead should deal with their abilities between one third to a half of a squad’s health barre.
The fact that abilities can wipe entire squads is particularly affecting the pacing of the game, because it creates a lot of time outs where you’re creating a new army from scratches to replace the one you loss. It also create some severe balance issues such as Gabriel Angelo being a huge tank + has huge crowd control abilities + deals a ludicrous amount of damage.
