Terminators are not slow and virtually immobile. They can keep up with Eldar Howling Banshees and Harlequins in close combat, both of which can literally dodge bullets when fired at point blank range. You can't do that (keep up) if your armor restricts your range of motion.
Also, the "flipping Gabe" thing. In a universe that pretty much runs on Rule of Cool, what's your issue? Yeesh. As far as the size of hero units, you do kinda have a point... except that it looks and feels an awful lot like playing a game of WH40k in "epic scale"
Which is, by the way, the scale you would play in way in the wayback when dinosaurs roamed the earth and they had a separate ruleset (part of Games Workshop Specialist Games) for dealing with titans on the tabletop. Now that Specialist Games has gone the way of the dodo, you can see titans on normal tabletops, but still.
There's other crap you can complain about, and if you really don't like something that much then well, it's not like Relic is forcing you to buy their game.
I agree that the art style is par for the warhammer course but I feel it doesn't fit with the atmosphere the game starts with. It shows a pit of corpses but then everything is new and shiny. I would appreciate the option to have rugged character textures like they have matt, gloss, and metalic.
I think the issue is less about the brightness/colors and more about the 3d modelling and the 'weight' of the models. In DOW 2 they looked like they are moving on (or through!) the terrain, in DOW 3 they look like someone painted them on top of a static background, ive even seen some models in DOW 3 overlap each other and have no collision with each other or the environment, like 2 predator tank merge into one through a bottleneck like those 1990s RTSs. They have no physical presence on the screen which makes it look more like a cartoon than a battlefield.
I think you're all missing the point and are proving to everyone how utterly clueless you are when trying to understand what people are trying to tell you regarding the term "Grimdark".
"Grimdark" isn't just a colour palette - it's an ATMOSPHERE.
The AMAZING trailer for DOW3 captured that grimdark atmosphere whereas the game itself is a clusterfuck of childish, cartoony Power Rangers sparkling, prancing, flipping, flashing and skidding all over the place whilst glowing and gleaming with effects and League of Legends style abilities and aoe templates.
Even those models that are shining in the DOW2 screenshots don't look cartoonish - i.e. they aren't modeled with an aim of attracting prepubescent teens or 11+ year olds.
I'm sure I'll get stick for this post but I don't care, the more that DOW3/MOBA lovers hate/disagree with me the more conviction in which I hold my stance - I THRIVE on it. I wonder how long it takes until this thread is locked or my post is deleted because it doesn't conform to the DOW3 agenda/echo chamber
The art style is on point I think, perfect for dow3. playing the beta really cleared that up for me. It looks amazing and its a frick ton of fun to play 3v3 2v2 1v1 I'm not to confident in suppose I should just do what I do In 3v3s. regarding taking points quickly.
The atrocities that occur within the 40k setting on a daily basis and on a galactic scale don't become any less horrifying and vile if they happen to take place in a well-lit room.
People complaining about the "cartoonish look" don't really have conscience on how it actually matter to have low poly models for such a huge scale RTS game, i terms of performance but also readability of the screen, I found it really easy to understand what's happening on the screen, while I'm sure it would have been a struggle if there were more detailed units on the battlefield.
Colors are good, I love the terrain Art Style (even if I think there is too much "arena" feel from the design of the 3v3 map from the Beta).
For me everything moves well, the game is responsive thanks to the the less complex animations.
I don't have many to add, if people don't like the art style, it's their opinion. (I personally think, for exemple, that The Witcher 3 is not that beautiful)

I think the art style looks great, no problems whatsoever.
My only gripe is you need pretty good computing hardware to run it
Renner
I noticed on the stream last night that the story heroes are having the 3rd special skin, and not only large walkers:
Macha has her version with a helmet, but didn't see her displayed:
I guess those are for the skull purchase, or maybe even DLCs.
Orblivion
That Deathwatch skin for Gabriel is pretty sweet.

its not about being colorful, its about being cartoony
DoW3 is supposed to be better graphically but you sure as hell can't see it in-game
the models and maps, especially maps had so much details while in DoW3 its just so bland

I don't object to the graphics style generally but there are a few questionable decisions in my opinion.
Most notably the turrets and power generator don't seem to fit the setting.
I'm also not a fan of some of the animation. Gabirel's jump and the banshee's Q power in particular look bad.

This is a ++heresy redacted++ good quote.
