Wondering this too. But I wouldn't expect it soon... so... save money and play early, or spend a lot of money and play late... so hard decisions. Or not? Nevermind.
Well I'm starting to get frustrated because we have two days to launch and I still haven't heard a word. I have emailed Relic Support and am hoping a mod will respond to this thread soon with some sort of feedback.
There is a thread about this in general discussion that I posted in. Pretty much, SEGA and Relic are dropping the ball hard at the moment.
I emailed them regarding a steam key. They said they won't email any keys out and that the key is in the physical box...Okay, why would you not just email out redeemable keys?
Then they said they couldn't provide a tracking number since some carriers haven't given them tracking numbers...Well my carrier is UPS and I emailed them. They told me that they don't give tracking numbers and that they're automatically generated when labels are made. So, they suggested I contact SEGA and Relic again to make sure the product has actually shipped. Now, I'm just waiting on another answer from them.
They should of just went through 3rd party distributors like Amazon instead of trying to cut the middle man out to reap maximum profits.
At this rate I'm left with two options. 1 just buy it on steam and trade the key via steam trades or 2 request a refund if they can't keep track of their own products.
Mainly base this off pre-orders I have done in the past for music and looking at the sent date. A general guide would be:
Same country: sent 1-2 days in advance
Same continent: sent 1-3 days in advance
International: sent 3 days in advance
Really you are at the mercy of the shipping provider SEGA has chosen. The fact it completely varies is obviously the downside of getting anything hard copy, especially when the release date is a Friday so if it doesn't arrive you wait until next week. Not sure what truth there is to @GenuineProdigy 's comments, not entirely sure why they keeping quiet on the tracking numbers. It's SEGA who is the publisher of the game so they will be managing the distribution, Relic is the developer so they are likely not directing the process. These forums are really not the place to post about this as they are managed by Relic, you really need to hassle SEGA on this one.
Personally I think hard copies should be able to arrive in advance these days seeing Steam manages the DRM and can prevent you playing before the go-live anyway. I'm not entirely sure why this is not the case for games, then again it may be because I basically don't pre-order anything gaming related (expect this one ).
@amarines Those comments are directly from Sega support regarding tracking ID that have been posted numerous times in another Collector's thread in general discussion with photo proof showing the customer service representative Sergio saying that they can't provide tracking because some carriers haven't returned tracking IDs. Therefore, I contacted my carrier to clarify the process of tracking IDs. Furthermore, you select a form of shipping off a list. For example, I have UPS ground and others have other carriers based on their location. So, if they're sending it from Sega USA located in California and I'm in Oregon they have at most until tomorrow to ensure it arrives "on time."
Strange, because this morning this Sergio person emailed me and gave me my tracking information. The game is due to arrive between 1:15 and 5:15 PM tomorrow.
@GenuineProdigy I wish they would have chosen the CA SEGA for mine! I'm in f-ing Seattle and they decided to send it from Nashville, TN. I'm apparently getting my CE 4 days after launch because their shipping ideology sucks.
Any idea what is being done for people who get theirs late? So far, Sergio has basically told me to suck it.

Does anyone know if we'll get a digital stream key e-mailed to us? Or will we have to wait for shipping?
