Has anyone here beaten the last mission on hard? I'm at a loss as to how to win the fight with the regenerating altar. The main problem is the bloodletters... they are extremely hard to kill because the moment they get low health, they teleport a huge distance away and start regenerating. It's hard to kill them even if you are using all three of your elites on one. And if you ignore them, the bloodletters melee you and slow you, and the final boss sends waves of fire that do about 1/6 of gabriel's health per hit. And not only all of that, but once the final boss starts sending the mentioned waves of fire, he teleports almost immediately when you get near him, even though most of your damage is melee. I'm at a loss as to how to beat this fight.

Nevermind, figured it out. I think I was chasing after the regenerating bloodletters too much.

I just did it minutes ago! It is possible!! You can do it!

Yep, was a tough fight. Those 4 packs of bloodletters do not respawn after you kill them. So focus them down one at a time. You will have to "burst" them with a combination of abilities. Macha's (W) and Gab's (W) and a punch from Gorgutz. Or you can Taunt them with Gorgutz (Q) get them all stacked and lined up nice and throw Macha spear (q) through them all in a line and return it. Should be gg from there.

What I did was Stasis the demon with Macha when he was in the corner, then took my type to kill the letters and let my abilities recharge before ending stasis.

The second phase (when there are wave of fire) is the hardest, I managed to overcome it by having Gorgutz always chasing the Deamon, and Macha + Angelos finishing bloodletters, and once it was done they backed Gorgutz.
Also save after each phases.

I always just had Macha throwing her spear at he Deamon to break up it's fire spell. Once he did that I got in close and wrecked. I beat the mission first try, it wasn't too bad on Hard. Even though in the last fight Gorgutz and Angelos both died so I had to micro Macha around hardware until I could spawn them back in. 3 minutes of Hell.

I gave up, and rushed last mission on normal, aside from certain missions I am not planning returning to campaign. Its not hard some missions are just annoying, sometimes you can roflstomp it in few minutes using only elites and sometimes you need micros as if you were playing piano.
Mission 12 was absurdly easy, until you get to final spot where you basically survived only on luck, then those missions with knight elites, that mission where you first get solaria, you can solo it in 15 minutes using only knight or last 2 missions where you get 10K on both resources and there are 2 enemy soldiers on whole map, really ?
But back to the last mission, its so annoying, I dont know if thats normal but as soon as I stunned him he simply flies up, I spent over 10 minutes of kiting group of unkillable bloodletters just to take down 1k health, some ranged unit would be nice, and dont even start with kiting your remaining elite and waiting for the dead ones to revive. Its not hard it just gets so annoying, I was really hoping that last mission/s would be huge basebuilding with army of knights against army of knights. I wanted to see necrons so much I put it on normal and I really dont want to relive it again... meh ..

It took me some time and like 6 replies, but it's ok.
It's final boss for a reason.

Im getting sick of that last mission. Guess it would be possible to manage if Bloodletters weren't FREAKING IMMORTAL. I tried to lock down DEAMON (omg at least give it name and some voice lines...) with stasis and kill them with just with Gabe and Gorgutz. Trolletters just stormed Macha and got stuck in stasis. Those few I managed to hurt enough just warp away and heal. I guess most of you already noticed that only Gabe can feasibly knock them out of it cus Maka's spear will just bounce off the shield and Gorgutz's fist get stuck on shield and wont stun or taunt them... and of course we cant forget that amazing feeling of despair when generic random greater deamon of Khorne #2 (how the @&#{ Gabe or Macha wont comment that this is exactly SAME as first DoW1 story is beyond me) just spam one attack that is almost impossible to dodge with 3 seperated characters while he often change agro and will move to another location as soon as you melee him. And you just have to love when hordes of Trolletters swarm your heroes and lock them on one place. Specialy fun for Macha since she got no way to get them off her. It feels like C.S.Goto not only wrote story and unit spec. He also imbound all his sadistic fetishes into this very mission.

-Play it save before you get to the Flame arena save all the on the way, during the flame arena figth just go back and collect medpacks from parts of the maps before.
-Make sure you heroes are full HP before you take the demon down to around 4000 HP, because the cutscene moves you right to the final arena.
-Save game with all 3 heroes at full HP in the last arena.
-Nuke bloodletters asap with Warboss W + Q into Macha abiliy into Garbiel W.
-When he switches to flamewaves. Nuke the first 2 bloodletters who spam first asap. Short time window because he does the flying animation with flames.
-Split up your heroes. Use one to who is targeted by the flame waves to dodge them. Use the other 2 and try to kill the bloodletters.
-Now hes the only one left. Stunlock him with Macha spear trow + recall all Gabriel abilitys and Gurgotz abilitys.
-Use Macha E for to give you extra time to recharge long cooldown abilitys.
-Its should be gg after you survided the flame wave part.

Got even better one: after you are done with killing Bloodletters try to agro with Gabe or Gorgutz and let Macha solo Deamon. Deamon wont take off unless atacked by melee so use macha range fire. Deamon will just stand on one place spaming one attack on heroes that can be on other side of the map. Also good time to let your hurt heroes die so you can ress them full health. Not that you need to since rest is pretty easy. This way while it can take pretty long is safe and require minimal micro. It wont get easier than this.

Cheers all! Did it yesterday on hard. I needed several attempts but for me it worked best to focus the bloodletters with every ability I have as soon as the deamon takes off or i have a little bit of time. This was the best tactic and all survived. Also note. When he takes off make sure to move to the fountain asap in case he lands there and heals himself. Another tipp: The flamewaves are interrupted by Machas Q (in case you hit it). Try to use the whole area of the map to dodge the flames in a 90° angle and approach him steadily. If you try to run towards him straight while he is doing the flame waves ... gg.
FEEDBACK: I enjoyed the campagne a lot - especially on hard as you are really happy about each mission you manage to finish. Then you can really enjoy the story and cinematics. However, I really think the ending cinematics is dissapointing !!! " They killed him and everyone walked his way .... but someone else ..." Honestly ... this is so blunt and uncreative. I expected a bit more story / turnaround.
Thanks

Question: Those of you finished all campaigns on "hard" mode - have you received the achievement "Ruler of Worlds" (not sure if this is the right english translation) ??? I did not?!
PiggiesGoMoo
Yea it looks like I didn't get those campaign completion achievements (there is one for each difficulty), even though I beat it.
onmy0wn
is this a bug? @Kat_RE
Kat_RE
@onmy0wn @PiggiesGoMoo We're looking into this!
Devizz
Yup, can confirm the achievements are bugged. Beaten the campaign on hard yet didn't get the credit.
Raksoman
Atleast Gorgutz got his pointy stikk
Devizz
I thought it was perfect. Them just walking away after everything and that line at the end... lmao.
Necro
Haha it was a fun fight on hard, got it first time on hard. Deffo need to focus blood letters first tho!
Nyhx
Yeah, this is a bug, they will fix the achievement. Last mission was awesome on hard!
onmy0wn
agree ! I think if you are having a hard time accomplishing the campaign you even more enjoy the victory
Hexod
Would not have played the campaign on any other difficulty. Awesome campaign btw, really enjoyed it.

I'm on attempt 10(?) - the best I've been able to do is whack 2 of the Bloods before the boss starts throwing fire. After that I end up losing Macha and kiting for eternity with Angelos and Gorgutz, only making occasional potshots with whoever isn't agg'ing the big guy. Can't kill the last 2 Bloods for the life of me, and they make it real tough to keep up the kiting game. Macha seems absolutely useless - her stasis only works at close range, and the long range component takes too long to setup. Been doing RTS games a long time, but I can't remember the last time a level caught me up this bad. Funny, I could've sworn I bought a RTS, not a RPG...
Queso
i think the final level is stupid. it does not exercise any STRATEGIC skills and very minor tactical skills... it does not belong in an RTS... it is an insult to the rest of the campaign
i would like to know who was foolish enough in management to force the team into making the level as it is. yes of course there will be people who enjoy the final level, but i would think the majority of real time STRATEGY game players will not appreciate the final level..
besides the final level i really enjoyed the campaign, and i am really enjoying the MP so far. although i would prefer maps that did not confine me to lanes but otherwise the rest is good
EndgameOnyx
I won't knock Relic too hard for it - Elites had been a strong element in the campaign up to that point, so it isn't completely ridic that they would have a finale that focuses on the 3 protags. That said, I get the feeling like the mechanics of the final battle cross the line from "Intelligent use of strategic abilities/assets" (i.e. RTS) to "Heavy dependence on individual unit micromanagement and maneuvering" (i.e. RPG). The line is narrow, and not always clear, but this is one case where I think we can say Relic def took a page out of "Bible de RPG". Either way, I'm not at the point where I can accept stepping down and beat the mission on normal, so I'll be back at it again in a couple hours with my BFF Storm Prince. Either way, one of us is going to end up the other's waifu-4-laifu... or at least the next 24 hours.
Leeroy1986
Here's me still fannying about on normal, I feel so inferior lol.
Queso

ahahaha! omg man if more people spoke like you on the internet i would have a real problem! that was really funny! totally agree with how you feel! I nearly switched from Hard to Normal on my Nth attempt (lost track how many times i reloaded various save points) but then i got lucky killing those stupid little demons in the phase where waifu is spitting flames all over the place, and managed to kill 2 of the 3 demons very quickly, making the rest manageable, and after those little clowns are down the rest is like sleeping compared to that piece.. gl with your attempts
but all in all i still enjoyed the campaign, even if i felt like abandoning that final level a number of times..
HiveSpirit
I did many replays till it finally got right.
1. Saved after each different area.
2. Replayed till i got a save with full hp, in the area before the boss area.
3. Saved after each/ during, bloodtower stomping.
4. Did one or so extra save when there were time left over n things went good.
Keep saving and good luck
Praxis
I just don't have the motivation to put myself through it after the first couple of attempts. I didn't buy an RTS to fight a RPG raid boss.
