I've been thinking about some ways to improve matchmaking to help with the problems we all seem to be having. Excuse me for using examples from other games I play since it's really my only reference point and most people will understand what I'm talking about.
Problems with getting matched up with players not at the same skill level.
I have seen a lot of mention about players getting frustrated with their teammates in 2v2 or 3v3 and bailing as a solo queued player. I personally solo queue in games just cause I haven't made friends that play DoW3.
I feel like if a ranking system like CS:GO was added it would help put people into ranked groups based on a variety of stats and personal skill level. I think this would cause far less people to bail if they have a player that has been proven to be in the same skill range.
Problems with players bailing on the match and leaving their team to play with AI
Possibly implement some sort of penalty for leaving games early. (e.g. Like loss of skulls or Waiting for that match to finish before you can join another)
Also, since the game sometimes has problems with crashing, implement a 'Reconnect to Match' option. (I spent 1 hour last night playing a tough back and forth match only to have the game crash on me as I made my last push. It's like watching American football, your team is at the 3 yard line with 1 second left to score the winning point, and your TV breaks as they snap the ball.)
For those games that you know you are going to lose
Could add a Surrender option as well. If you know you gonna die and have nothing left, hit a surrender option in the menu.
These are just some ideas to help with some of the pains in Matchmaking. I'd like to know thoughts and maybe some other ways to improve matching. I want this game to flourish and only get better.
