Most of the time, the fans are always right. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of Ware III barely made a dent in its first day sales which pale in comparison to its peers, mostly because of a confused revision of the game’s genre. As one fan puts it: “we tried to tell you, we want a Dawn of War game closer to Dawn of War 1, not Halo Wars mixed with a MOBA.”
Dead On Arrival
This is what happens when conventional game publishers listen to yes-men: they end up with a dead on arrival game such as DoW 3. There may be 15,000 people playing right now, but fans of the franchise are doubtful how long it would last if less than 70,000 bought the title from Steam on the first day, according to third-party site SteamSpy.
History Repeats Itself
Fans of the RTS genre may remember a similar incident involving a much bigger title about 7 years ago: StarCraft 2. It took Blizzard a lot of investment to continue forcing changes down fans’ throats, and eventually gave up recently to release a remastered version of the original for a thriving hardcore fan base to play.
Unfortunately for Relic Games, they’re not as wealthy as Blizzard. It remains to be seen how they get out of this one.

This seems a bit premature... considering there are plenty of us who are happy with this game. Also, SC2 is anything but dead. I get that some people had the unrealistic expectation that this game was going to be DoW1: Part 2, but that was never the promise they made.
If you take it for what it is, this is an awesome RTS that brings some new and interesting concepts to the genre. Is it really so intolerable to give it a shot and at least try to enjoy the game without shooting it down within the first 2 weeks of it releasing?
Just some spare change from a DoW/WH40k veteran.

Totally not agreed. Game still needs the systems like morale ands cover based on tranches, explosion holes and any other thing in the map. Cover system is one of the worst part of this game and it makes this system so casual. Besides micro management is terribly wrong. İn down of war you are playing with lots of units, after all this is not starcraft, but if you try to push a button for every ++heresy redacted++ unit it will turn you down horbily. Try to use multiple whirlwinds abilities at the same time and you will understand what i am trying to explain. And maps are to dull compare to DOW 1and 2. Character models and animations are dull to. İ mean in dow 1 many melee units have 5 different hitting animations. This is just a bad policy of the sega and I hope relic will repent his sins with free dlcs or a game changer expansion pack like Dark Crusade or Retribution.

What is this topic? Just posting some random, shitty article, without incentive for discussion? At least post the source next time (yeah, you posted the same thing in gen. discussion) and put some effort into your topic.

Speak for yourself (themselves). All the people I know how haven't yet bought the game or who have bought it and let it sit on their shelf are the ones who are waiting for Chaos.

At this point I am not even sure if this is a troll or ...

70K?
How about 330K?

So DoW 3 now has barely more players on peak and average than DoW 1 Soulstorm...a game that is about to be 10 years old with very dated mechanics and graphics.
The game is dead compared to Company of Heroes 2 , a game that is almost 5 years old!
I wonder if Relic's best interest would be to just make DoW 4 and give a coupon to all DoW owners at this point.

Drawing too many conclusions from too little, low number of active players alone does not mean the game does not have a future, it is much more complicated than that and to truly know one would have to work at relic.
Dawn of war 3 is an amazing game, so I am confident it can make a comeback.

It is an amazing game. I got angry cause CSM aren't playable in such an amazing game. Seriously how can this be?? At first it sounds as if it's a prank but none wants to see my face when i realized it's for real. How can we not have more factions? The game will sell more if more factions are added, make them stand alone like it's in CoH2. This game is so much enjoyable but having so little number of factions limits the fun. And again, no CSM?!

Maybe someone can explain why there was a massive collapse of the owners / players numbers?

So the game made a lot of sales which means it made cash, so we are good in economic side. DoW3 isn't dead, it's that non pros can't play 24/7.
CSM on February._
