So Dow3 has workshop support, which is great, however, it also isn't enough. For substantial numbers of people to try out lots of new maps and modes, there needs to be a way to download it directly from in-game. For example, if I join someones custom map, I should auto download it.
This would be similar to how it works in dota2, where new modes and maps can all be had from within the game client.
The problem is that people are lazy, and people simply won't access cool content from the workshop in large numbers if it isn't super easy

I agree with you, and I would go as far as saying they should have an in game interface for interacting with the workshop. But even your idea is going to take a lot of time, most likely, if there aren't technical limitations we aren't aware of.
Would be great to see though.

Was it integrated in Company of Heroes 2?

If they did this... countless problems would be removed from the game.

I will freely admit that I never open the workshop. I am sure there are some fun maps, but since no one else will have them downloaded, it is just a waste of time.
If they could be shared in game though, that would be a different ball game!

Actually, if you look at the custom game list, quite alot of people are playing custom maps in DoW3.
That being said, obviously it'd be easier if there was some sort of auto-download or map transfer system in the game.
Relic should probably look into making some of the custom made maps official too, the automatching map pool could do with being bigger, and alot of the custom maps I've seen are actually pretty solid.

Well, depends how you define "a lot" I suppose.
Honestly, this is the biggest reason I do not want to try making a map right now. I doubt many people will play it without any kind of in game download feature

True, at this point it's probably a lot of prearranged matches via Discord etc.

Well, I've not been online for a couple days, but when looking at the custom game list back then, 1/4 to 1/3 the matches open there were on custom maps.
Obviously, alot might not actually be alot as it's rather subjective, considering not as many people are playing the game at the moment in general anyway. Holding out for a patch, I suppose.
