I for one, will not be waiting that long. I honestly think that we will never see DOW4, at least by Relic anyway. This game is objectively a failure. 10 years and 3 iterations of the basic design and this is the product they offered.
Thankfully I only paid $30 for it, any more than that would have been a waste of cash.
I still think the game is great - I kind of wish they'd taken a DOW2 aesthetic but gameplay wise the core mechanics are there and I'm hoping they continue to build upon it. IF they do and the community garners some more support then I think in a couple of years time it will be looked back on as a very decent game.

You and I both know that what matters to the company is pushing units off the shelves. Which simply isn't happening. Some guy analyzed DOW3 to have sold less than 300k copies, those are the kinds of figures you used to hear about back in the mid 90's with LOK and Baldurs Gate.
LOK? (Legacy of Kain? - which was a fantastic game series!)
Yeah but we as individuals needn't base our assessment of the quality of the game produced merely by how many people bought it. Without being derogatory people en masse aren't particularly smart....if they were Donald Trump wouldn't be president and Brexit wouldn't be happening. DOW3 has always been controversial and in my personal opinion it has been hit by an antihype train....hopefully once it is out of the fallout zone of this groupthink it may be able to build up players again.
Please don't criticise Brexit if you don't know all the facts. There's WAAAAAAAAAAAY more going on than just what's in the news. As for Trump being president he was the lesser of two evils. So I'd say that's a 2-0.
DOW3 didn't fail because it was too smart for people. DOW3 is dying because it has structural problems and many critics say it feels like a cash grab and considering it can't even exceed the content of teams without huge publishers like SEGA backing them I get it.
This game is only OK and it's only OK for those people who 1. Like RTS and 2. Like 40k and 3. Can overlook the problems. It barely manages to get a thumbs up from 52% of ALL people who ever reviewed the game 3 months after launch, the last 30 days only 40% who submitted a review were positive.
I won't go down the rabbit hole of Politics - but being a 28 year old Brit who is relatively politically active you don't have to tell me there is more than what's in the news.
I get the impression our political are probably on other sides of the line so let's dodge that conversation!
As for your assessments of DOW3...
Firstly I find the game not only ok but great....my only major criticism is the small player base....which is somewhat outside of the developers control
I should expect an RTS would appeal primarily if not only to people who like RTS games
Yes the 40k setting does also make it a game primarily for 40k fans (total war as a counterpoint does successfully appeal to those outside of warhammer spheres but that's largely due to the Total war name).
Many of these problems are subjective - I, for one, don't really have any problems with the game (balance is always something that is developed post release).
With regards to point 3 in particular - I think there was a great deal of stigmatisation surrounding the game and this is reflected in the reviews and interpretations of problems.

Real shame how you derail your own thread.
I feel like you want to change eldar into another SM faction and I dont want that.
I will admit that some of their units do UP but the falcon is not one of those or the FP. Falcons outright kill enemy infantry, the falcon is my go to unit as it gives me a mobile reinforce point and that splash. 2 FPs kept outside of the fight and shooting does huge amounts of dmg.
And I agree with @MaxwellsDaemon about Brexit and Trump. WAAAAAAAAAAAY to lose ez money, it will probably cost the UK around 100billion€ and not to speak of the amounts of laws that have to be decided upon... lets see if Ireland, Scotland want to leave the EU as well, not to speak about science, banks that move straight away. Do youu really think EU will continue to support anything with brits at universities?
Regarding Trump... no sorry no words describe this amount of facepalm..

Nothing you said invalidates a 48% disapproval rate from consumers.
MaxwellsDaemon
@MrBenis
nor dota does anything you say exempt the 48% disapproval rate from the same issues any metascore has....
Among those issues being the susceptibility of masses to groupthink.

Everyone gotta have their 2.c just let them vent.
