Trying to get my head around what Eldar are supposed to use as linebreakers and versus fortified positions. Especially in t1 but also t2.
Any ideas? This is mainly from a teamplay perspective where the amount of available DPS can seem overwhelming; banshees melt, attrition isn't really Eldars strong suite..

Elites are really the go to for line breaking - scorps, Macha, Jain Zar, kyre, wraithlord and both 9pointers.
These all do the job at their respective times in the game.
Otherwise pulling apart positions becomes a combination of dire avenger nades and bone singers teleporting in to the up set up teams while banshees close the distance.
late game wraith blades with fire prism blasts does well (for a very high power price).
But yeah in reality your line breakers are all in your elites.

@MaxwellsDaemon So you're telling me that if I choose non-melee elites or they're (god forbid) dead, I can't break a line? All other races seems to have them, as do Eldar.. Com t3.

You have Wraith blades and Wraith guard which are your tanky non kiting units.
Wraith blades have a taunt which has some use.
Eldar have very little crowd control and for a line breaker you're typically looking for some tankiness/gap closing/ disruption.
These qualities are all the weakest in the Eldar roster of the three races....in my opinion at least.
So yeah to an extent - if you don't have the right elites or they are dead you sort of do lack your 'line breakers.'

Its actually shocking how bad eldar units are for pushing against static positions.
I made the huge mistake of taking warp spiders and the two 9 point elites and I was totally screwed. Devastators everywhere, in cover and nothing I could dream of doing about them. Totally reliant on elites which isn't good at all!

The only effective line breaker you have is a early falcon. Much like any other race having the first T2 is essential to get a quick win. In team games try to be the support for your teammates with grenades and some DPS, get the super early falcon and just kill all the infantry if the enemy.
If you really want the early game linebreakers i find the surgical strike with scorpions also stealthing some squads of banshees can quickly go in, kill some squads and run out if you can get a good webway gate. Sticking around for a long fight just isnt for the solo eldar right now.

Yes, big mistake, don't take two 9 point elites, even one is situational.
Eldar rely on their Elites more than the other races because their line units are wimpy without their support. However, their elites are exceptional. Macha, Jain Zar, Kyre, and Warp Spiders are all excellent when they come in to play, and Macha is of course essential. You can't assault any static positions without the assistance of Macha's Fortune (75% damage reduction and 25% DPS boost for units within the radius of Psyker Blast) and stasis allows you to fight outnumbered. As Eldar, take Macha always; then take your pick of the rest of the 3-5 point elites, they are exceptional value and imho superior to Wraithknights.
