Am i the only one that finds it a little odd that sniper scouts dont benifit at all from the mine upgrade.
In a way i do understant that they want to prevent snipers from being to difficult or costly to reach (booby trapped snipers) and that makes sense but still for me it kinda makes the sniper scout less of a favorable pick for me because id have to get overwatch to get the most out of em.
Just my oppinion though not sure how others feel about it.
Maybe make sniper overwatch an upgrade instead of doctrine?

But mines have nothing to do with cqc. But fair enough. Just is strange that sniper scouts are highly one dimensional where regular scouts are very very useful.

Sniper scouts is good and cheap. Just watch how pro use them and they have a very good doctrine as well for early game. Well, if you prefer spam build, then I guess it's not good. The combination between scouts, sniper scouts, tacts and ASM is the way to go. It's all about diversity in army composition but I think this game is unstable in terms of that currently. Everyone just spam a single unit which not strategical at all and you can't have few squads if your opponent spam a single unit.

Actually making mines for snipers instead of scouts is pretty brilliant idea. Scouts have insane utility already going into spam, but snipers are seen only few and in-between. With current cheese and OP gimmicks, mines don't do much, but later on it can become a problem. Giving it to snipers is perfectly reasonable IMO.

I think scouts are not supposed to be starcraft probes, they are basically space marines without power armour, they are perfectly cool with making booby traps, ccing the enemy, if we had equip system from previous dow theyd get shotguns and stuff to be fighters
meanwhile snipers are only snipers, if we had equip system from previous dow theyd probably just be upgrade for scouts, all they do is snipe and dont really need nades or mines ..
BUT that doesnt mean they couldnt use something , when you look at them right now their micro looks like ranged servitor, and even servitor has 2 active abilities ... they could definitely use some change, they have lot of cool doctrines that are cool but weak compared to others ... maybe if they got some as passives/upgrades .. maybe overwatch or that stealth from stealth cover doctrine as upgrades, that would also make that bonus damage when breaking stealth viable doctrine, now if you want use sniper doctrines you need them all at once

Snipers never cary mines.
CANNED_F3TUS
Not neccessarily true.
Dandalus
necessarily true, they are to be mobile and stealthy and with light weight equipment to be fast moving.
CANNED_F3TUS
Mines are pretty light weight lol.
Dandalus
But it's weight still LOL!
Stoner
You do realize scout space marines are not some deadbeats but genetically enhanced warriors, right? How much you think those mines should weight to slow these beasts down? I honestly dread to imagine... Ordinary scouts carrying mines somehow don't slow down to crawl and are fastest moving SM units out there.
On more practical application example:
When I play such games as Battlefield and choose Sniper class, I always carry anti-personnel mines. When I find good camping spot, I always booby-trap back entry, so when some smartass wants to stab me in a back, he gets his ++heresy redacted++ blown to bits on approach, and that feels great. Thus snipers having mines makes way more sense than ordinary recon team IMO.

@Stoner all scout types are not genetically enhanced, what u say goes for power armour users. Your example of playing battlefield is hilarious, try this on real war.
Stoner
You seriously need to familiarize yourself with the lore better and know who actually are Space Marines. Also don't see anything wrong with example on real life application, that considering Dawn of War video game have nothing even remotely close to realism and such.
Dandalus
Scouts are initiates, no matter snipers or bolters.
CANNED_F3TUS
In WW 2 and even in other wars it wasnt uncommon for snipers to employ mines and booby traps as early warning systems or added security to their position depended all on the situation.
CANNED_F3TUS
Between 1 or 3 pounds of explosive is hardly gonna slow anybody down. Which is the average weight of a anti infantry mine.

Also in purely educational purposes:
Every Chapter of Space Marines must recruit new warriors into its ranks in order to survive. The process varies from Chapter to Chapter, many recruiting from their own homeworlds. These are often feral worlds, breeding tough, harsh new recruits. Whatever the tradition of a particular Chapter, warriors must always be chosen when they are still young, before their bodies become too mature to accept the many bio-implants. Once accepted, the genetic implantation and induction of the Space Marine organs begins. The warrior has taken his first steps to becoming a full fledged Space Marine. During those years, the warrior is known as a Neophyte, or Space Marine Scout -- he is neither fully a Space Marine nor entirely a normal human...

@Stoner thanx.
