The next game update will go live on August 29th. Read on to find out what’s included!
In the midst of ear-piercing Banshee howls, “For the Emperor”s, and the rumbling of approaching WAAAGHs - it can be tough to remember to pause the mayhem for a moment and think “hmm, I should probably save right now.” And, as a lot of you have requested, when you’re in the middle of an exciting skirmish - you shouldn’t need to!
In the August update, campaign progress will autosave before tough encounters. Though you can still save manually, this change will make it easy to pick up where you left off.
We’ll also be releasing improved modding tools - including the Attribute Editor and the Tuning Pack. These will enable resourceful modders to reimagine multiplayer balance, create new abilities or change existing ones, and build more detailed game modes to support them.
Alongside the release of these tools, the Steam Workshop will support these new mod types so that whole new Dawn of War experiences are just a click away. We’ll be updating the Dawn of War modding wiki to outline all of these changes in more detail on August 29th.
With the help of community members on the official forums, more balance changes are coming in this update. You can read more about it here! Final patch notes will go live along with the game update.

Though the Mod Tools don't do much for me as someone who doesn't have that much tech savvy I know this is quite a big deal for a lot of people and really have to give kudos to Relic for including this in the Update. As always, balance changes are greatly appreciated, I always look forward to that.
A couple of questions if you don't mind @Kat_RE
Will there be a map or any new skins coming with this patch?
Are you guys any closer to determining a roadmap and sharing future plans? I know a speak for quite a few people when I say we're eager to see more from you guys when it comes to future content!
Anyway, thanks for the continued work
Edit: I'd also like to ask if you guys are still thinking about what to do with the Skull system, as there doesn't seem to be much to spend skulls on.

More Mod Tools is always a good thing.
If you have the time, you might also want to provide a bit more documentation on the tools already available - for example several Level Audio related issues are not really documented anywere, see this post for details:

Good stuff.

Who wants to work with us on a PTR mod once we get the tools?

Its kinda sad to see that you will use the same flawed mod system as you used for coh2. As someone who was a tester for the coh2 tools, i hoped you would learn from the mistakes that were made.
This isn't just about the countless restrictions, but all the technical difficulties that came with splitting every type of mod
into its own pack.
It causes extremely long times to download stuff, due to having to update loads of different packs instead of just a few bigger ones. It is not only bad for the community but also an issue for the devs, as experience from coh2 showed.
(hope that atleast armor types and so on can be added this time.)
however, if you plan to rework the system bit by bit during the future, it might go well if you work together with community members who know how to use the tools.
if feedback is actually taken seriously, iam sure some of the old testers would do it again (even myself)
HARRYY
we need new maps to stay with the game.
you need to add a new race soon: 1 in expansion w campaign , 1 quickly after as DLC.
This game needs LIFE.
mod tools wont help much here, but I wont complain about it.
nachocheese
mod tools that allow for new models and so on to be created could help a lot, just needs relic to work on getting those things together with the community
Kat_RE
This is an interesting point, and I'll bring that feedback to the team that's working on the modding wiki update.
@PhilthyPhilPhD There are no maps or skins for this update. We do have some cool ones coming up for future patches, though! Can't wait to share them when they're further along.
HARRYY
ahhhh sooo saddddddd... we love this game !! push it out :>
Ace40k
great news! thanks a lot for the update. also, i dont mind waiting for a new race for months to come as long as we get a constant stream of new content like maps, skins, army colors, etc
Stoner
You do WHAT? Seriously? I almost can't believe it, Relic, is that really you?...
Draconix
Wow, Stoner got zapped with Relic's kind light.
Anyways, no content, but still I apprecciate that we will get balance changes, campaign autosave and mod tools, even if I'm not actually a fan of mods at all.
RedDevilCG
Mod tools integrated into Steam Workshop? Boooyah! Let the balance test mods explode!
Artist
No they don't.
Good content >>> rushed content.
PhilthyPhilPhD
As much as I'd like to see new races soon, they do need to take their time to make sure things come out well. I just wish we knew what was coming and when to expect it.
Valeran
Hi, @Kat_RE, I want ask, your balance team from relic. Did they any balance corrections occur since your post preview balance changes in july 27?
Kat_RE
Many corrections and additions! The full patch notes will go live the same day of the patch - both on the website and on Steam, as usual.
Lude
Hi Kat, just to clarify, will you be implementing the proposed doctrine changes with this update too?
Jazz_Sandwich
In the past (ie, in Dow1), it was a 3rd party 3D art suite that was used to create, rig, and animate new models - Autodesk 3DS Max ('08 being the last supported version IIRC). I can't see Relic creating a 3D modelling program for the sake of modding, that'd be akin to them creating a brand new game solely to support their existing one.
nachocheese
what relic has to do is actually allow model files to load and provide their 3ds plugin, something they did in coh1 and dow1. Obviously they dont create their own modelling software

I'm surprised - and incredibly delighted! - to see modding tools being released at this stage. This bodes incredibly well for singleplayer-focused players, but I'm not sure what to expect when it comes to multiplayer focused players, for the core game at least. Dawn of War 1 and 2 have supported healthy communities for the past years thanks to the modding community, and I'd expect to see a lot more people interested in dow3 with this move, but I wonder what it will mean for people already experiencing long queue times in multiplayer. We may well see more players overall but at the same time fewer players populating the vanilla multiplayer.
I suppose the hope is that new players will come for the mods and stay for the multiplayer of the core game? At any rate, I can appreciate that the decision to incorporate these tools at this juncture of the game's life was not made lightly. I look forward to the next generations of mods.
Jazz_Sandwich
I misunderstood your post, then, apologies.
Kat_RE
That's correct!
frumpylumps
TY, Kat. The community update is appreciated. Is there a reason we aren't seeing the corrected patch notes?
aghabozorg
people can test the balance changes before it goes live.great idea
Force_Commander
Hi, @Kat_RE , I want to buy DOW 3 , but I want to be sure that the game support will continue in the future despite the fact that DOW 3 has a low online and bad attitude from the community.
Spirit
Good to see that orks finally get nerfed. What i dont understand tho is why you would buff the rangers but yeah other than that im excited for the patch to come out.
Gnouman
Autosave in campaign?!

Draconix
About modding tools.........
@Kat_RE , it might be a crazy question, but if someone would like it, will be possible to create new races though modding tools just like in Dow1's and Dow2's case? Though I prefer new factions added though official expansions rather than mods.
