Iron Harvest might be RTS that interest me, but it has to have a condintion: it must to have a base were you can recruit units from it on battlefield.
Dow 2 didnt had base building, but you still had HQ, where you could still bring units on battlefield. So Iron Harvest must have at least Unit Production on battlefield and resource system to interest me enough.

Its most likely gonna be downscaled and basic base building. This is coming on consoles as well so its likely that it won't even be a RTS. More of a RTT game imo.

I saw a trailer that said that Iron Harvest was set in a parallel universe 'where Tesla won' so now I think this game is just a facebook meme in RTS form.
Also I know concept artists that can make similar concept art in a weekend but don't know anything about RTS. The general universe is probably something you'd give high praise for if it was a piece of high school coursework but not much more.
The CoH-esque gameplay trailers looked good but I'm not sure how much that will translate to a functional game.

Nah they said they will not be doing that, in the survey results that they posted on Facebook 92.3% of the player base would be PC. Not only does it not make sense to make an RTS for console but if their main influence was CoH which was a PC game then wouldnt make sense to favor console at all. Pretty confident in this game atm.
The thing is that, the Life can be unpredictable, so I'm 100% sure about it. But I might try Iron Harvest as well. Though I don't feel dissapointment with Dow3 at all, even if it was for most.
No matter how mediocre this game is, I can at least enjoy it myself.

The thing is, we've heard that kind of talk before. and each time they do a full multiplat when saying that kind of stuff....we end up with very clunky games.
There are only a handful of RTS games on the consoles of old that actually had any decent setup, and still had a pc launch. Battle For Middle Earth 2, and Universe At War: Earth Assault being the most notable.
they're going to say a lot of things, they always do. But in the end it's going to favor the consoles in some way or another, at one point there will be a goddamn ++heresy redacted++ statement made about "keeping parity".
I hope Iron Harvest brings some new mechanics, and at least has a solid campaign. If it lacks one of those, then the other must be good to make up for the crap. Otherwise I'm just going to wait for Anno 1800 to bring back the good old days while merging some new stuff.

Anno 1800 looks like a snore fest to me. Rather Warhammer Total war then that.
It might be, but I was more optimistic about them bringing back the old days of Anno. They went too far in anno 2205...so much that they ended up on the moon.
im just upset that dawn of war 3 flopped so hard i was really looking forward to it, hopefully they make a dawn of war 4 and bring it back to its roots
I hope so too but i doubt it will happen. Such basix rts games like dow1 was back then are just not more popular these days if its not named starcraft.
Im happy with dow3 so far, enjoying it, hoping for new races to come out tho.

DoW 3 hasnt even got an expan. Wouldnt say it flopped till we see a new anf serious expan and if that fails than id agree it was a flop. And personally i wouldnt want DoW 4 to go back to its roots if it doesnt bother fixing what was bad about the roots.

If an expansion pops out and the game stabilizes then it's out of the flop risk zone, if it does flop then they'll just have to do what they almost did for 3 and just say "WE FUCKED UP BY MAKING DAWN OF WAR 2, SO NOW WE'RE GOING TO REBOOT THE ENTIRE FRANCHISE".
For those who are confused about the fuckup in making dawn of war 2, it's because that game is ALMOST the sole reason dawn of war III has been getting so much hate. It split the fanbase massively and fractured it more and more over the years. When Dawn of War III came onto the scene it had to attempt to combine the hero focus of Dawn of War 2 and the armies/basebuilding of 1, which wasn't a realistic goal as the two games are incompatible in what the fans were wanting for a combo.
We'll see what we see. I'm hoping this is a soft reboot and the spoiler at the end isn't a tease at a playable faction but a full expansion, which would mean we're gonna get a new expansion akin to winter assault and dark crusade combined.
My first thought is that the game, because of the elites thing feels chopped. What do I mean by this; For instance, i can't stand seeing an elite doctrine for space marines to have grenades. That thing on the begginning whith Gabriel flipping was irritating for someone who knows even the basics about lore and physics but I believe that we eventually got used to it.Also, asynchronous movements will make the game feel better in the eye...make it more real(?).I know they do that for the pathing but sometime it has to be replaced. Also, were are the seargants? And at last, correct me if I am wrong because I haven't played the game for a month, why do the ground vehicles walk inside on each other vehicle when they move and make gabriel on the retrieve mission WITH A COUPLE OF APOTHECARIES just to make reason in that part of story. In conclusion ,what I really want to see is a grim darkness of the far future where there are not heroes and villains because there are no good sides.Only endless war on big scale grounds and maps who feel like a part of a devastated planet who has endured a 10 millenia conflict.okay and for those who where felt dissapointed about the campaign content , a good thing would MISSIONS ON CYPRUS AND ITS PLANET..and generally and the background stories of this massive conflict playing again all the sides seperatly and indepedently on every mission.
I hope my ideas be seemed as a help and not as an insult.I love the Dawn of war franchise and I want to see it triumph again as most of us, the players want.

The reasons why vehicles clip to a certain degree is to avoid the atrocious pathing that vehicles commonly had and clusterfucks they caused. This is a good feature...
In DoW 2 vehicles were borderline useless because of failed pathing. You would hardly see tanks (except for fire prisms and carnifexes cuz reasons) in high level PVP in DoW because of this.
A good expansion with interface change, a multiplayer main chat area, some new maps that have good environments (tropics, desert, ice, etc), and Necrons/ other DLCs should bring some players. There already are plenty of them on at certain times.

I disagree, there were plenty of tanks and T3 units, Preds, Landraiders etc in high level PVP. Yeah it was shitty pathing but to me that was part of it, you had you be careful with them, don't bunch them up, make sure they have ample space to maneuver.
I have over 3k hours in DOW 2, it had so much potential but as per usual Relic couldnt pull thier finger out and patch or balance fast enough. It took years for them to even fix the broken IG heavy weapons squad.
I disagree. The only way you could play tanks in high level PVP was to play them like overglorified glass cannons with fire prisms being the most useful tanks in the game fire prism spam is even OP. Just the way tanks acted in DoW 2 proves how poorly designed the game was. You know you fucked up when infantry are tougher then tanks and tanks need to hide in the back lines which is exactly the only way tanks were played. I should have been more specific. I wasnt talking about super units here.... Landraiders, bane blades were excempt from this rule because they had a healthpool and tons of DPS as well as squads behind it fixing it. But regular tanks like preds , loota tanks and chaos preds were infact garbage..... The micro demand and cost effectivness just never was in a predators favor and killing regular tanks in DoW 2 was very easy thanks to most jump squads having anti vehicle snare abilities in mid to late game and every unit and their mother had some form of soft or hard vehicle counters. ++heresy redacted++.... Jump units didnt even need vehicle snare abilities i FORGOT! they just have to stand in the way! You get where im going with this right...
I got 2 to 3 k logged on DoW 2 and must say im glad DoW 2 is finished. I had fun times in the game. Still was trashy though.

Well it's going to be hard to do worse than dow 3 but we never know.I took a look and my first impression was not that bad. It may be a garbage because it will be playable on consoles. If you can play it on console it's maybe too simple but graphic engine and maps look like a classic rts which is great. However, I 'm not sure if mixing ww1 with robots which look like a trash can is good thing.... but we will see.
Doubt iron harvest will even be an RTS... By the looks of it and what i read its gonna be more of a CoH moba hybrid. :DDDD

Not sure if trolling but they've yet to even show decent gameplay, the walkers are probably ultimate units akin to CoH tanks like the king tiger.
Make Annihilation the main game mode and balance around it would be a start. Even at 50% off, and I am a huge DoW nerf, I can't see myself playing more than a few hours before giving it up without Annihilation. I got something like 2000 hours played in Soulstorm, most of it in co-op or campaign.
Speaking of co-op, bringing in that back would go a long way as well.
That being said, I have no idea if they'll keep supporting this game for long. Relic is now working on Age of Empire IV, so I got a feeling that big patches will start to slow down. Hell, I wonder if AoE4 hasn't been in the works for a while, this would explain the state this game was released in.

All relic RTS games are objective based.
If you want brain dead annihilation, starcraft is that way.
If you can't play without annihilation, then you were never DoW fan in the first place, because series always supported and encouraged objective based play.
Lack of annihilation games at all in custom lobbies is definitive proof that all that annihilation outcry earlier was nothing but a hot air.

Oh please, get off your high horses. As I've said, I got well over 2000 hours played of DoW1 on Steam, 500ish for DoW2, and this is ignoring the amount of time I spent playing DoW1 off Steam. I am as much a DoW player as you are.
Yes, I would love to have the old control point system be brought back, DoW1 is still my favorite RTS to this day, but Relic has decided that they did not want to, and instead opted for Annihilation. Finally, your last point is moot, nobody plays custom games at all, you're lucky to even find a game in custom lobbies.
You're not even a blip on statistical error for game modes popularity.
The mode you enjoy most is not popular in DoW3, was not popular in DoW2 and DoW1 fanboys are collectively in denial about DoW3 AND seem to not remember ranked play in DoW1 was still objective based.
You are rooting for a game mode that has no popularity in DoW series for at least 9 years, implementation of annihilation to DoW3 and complete lack of interest in playing it from players proves that without a question.
If game mode would be popular, people would play it in customs.
As you've pointed out, no one does, which does not make my point moot, it proves it.

50 50. But they mentioned heros. So moba springs to mind. I know for a fact that the commi trashcan with dishkas is going to be a early walker to rush too. Also the infantry units are probably gonna not be very impactful and obviously early game when facing againt walkers even with those anti tank pieces especially if they add firing arcs and the way walkers can walk through walls.

Let me quote myself, 'cause reading is so hard, I'll quote it twice
Yes, I would love to have the old control point system be brought back, DoW1 is still my favorite RTS to this day, but Relic has decided that they did not want to, and instead opted for Annihilation
Let's read that again, shall we?

I only suggested Annihilation because that's the only alternative Relic has given us to this terrible main game mode.
Also, you missed my entire point with the custom mode comment; there are barely any custom lobbies, at all, at any time, that's what renders your point moot. You already see nothing in there.

Doubt iron harvest will even be an RTS... By the looks of it and what i read its gonna be more of a CoH moba hybrid. :DDDD
Wikkyd

Icemasta
Oh please, get off your high horses. As I've said, I got well over 2000 hours played of DoW1 on Steam, 500ish for DoW2, and this is ignoring the amount of time I spent playing DoW1 off Steam. I am as much a DoW player as you are.
Yes, I would love to have the old control point system be brought back, DoW1 is still my favorite RTS to this day, but Relic has decided that they did not want to, and instead opted for Annihilation. Finally, your last point is moot, nobody plays custom games at all, you're lucky to even find a game in custom lobbies.
Katitof
Yeah.
You.
Particularly you.

Icemasta
I love repeating myself, but please do actually take time to read?
Let me quote myself, 'cause reading is so hard, I'll quote it twice
Let's read that again, shall we?
I only suggested Annihilation because that's the only alternative Relic has given us to this terrible main game mode.
Also, you missed my entire point with the custom mode comment; there are barely any custom lobbies, at all, at any time, that's what renders your point moot. You already see nothing in there.
