So you say relic does not need their oldest, most reliable to love(or hate), and shouldn t listen to the community because it´s hard to manage sometimes? Computer games are art and worthless if not able to generate an brand or uphold it, sae for their ideal value!
Since when computer games are considered as a art?
True art lies in painting, statues, poem and music, but not in computer games. Any true artist, even in modern times wouldn't consider computer game as a art.
The problem is that video games are a relatively new art form. There are games that can affect a person visually or narratively as well as a beautiful painting or a good book. Art is in the eye of the beholder. Not every game is a work of art, but the same applies to modern art:
What qualifies a piece or medium to be art? While a complete definition of art will not and cannot be provided here, a search on Google will suggest that art is “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power” and “subjects of study primarily concerned with the processes and products of human creativity and social life, such as languages, literature, and history (as contrasted with scientific or technical subjects).” And while not on the list, truisms of art include: Warhol’s phrase, “Art is anything you can get away with;” Degas’ quote, “Art is not what you see but what you make others see;” and a general idea that the goal of art is to embody an idea or invite an experience and/or reaction.

From what Ben said, there are two conclusions I can make:
1. They have absolutely no idea what to do with DOW III yet, and more importantly they have no time till somewhere around February, because they are deeply tied up with AoE4, and maybe by Feb they'll come up with something, which would explain a lot.
2. If they really have some ideas, and it will take so much time to implement, then I don't see one single reason why they don't even give us a hint of what it is exactly, considering it is aimed at gameplay? I mean who in his right mind can trust that new mechanics (or the like) they're working on isn't another disaster about to happen? And considering how it is worded, they'll just let us test it out before going live, so they can't have any insight of it being bad idea to start working on in the first place. They'll just push it out and we'll have to deal with it. And if it appears to be a disaster, than ~2 months of work down the drain?
Wouldn't it be smarter to ask community about something they think of implementing have any appeal at all instead of "behind-the-scenes" work till February?
Sometimes I wonder who Relic thinks they making this game for...
Yeah a lil bit more transperency would be good. I dont necessarily blame them for being secretive but it is startin to get kind of lame. Just a little dog treat here n there is all i need.
This next update has to be expansive and address atleast a few of the more serious problems with the game.

Relic have made their vision clear in interviews. The stated goal was a dawn of war that combined elements of 1 and 2 that would be accessible to newcomers. I'd say those boxes were ticked, but the resulting mix of ideas doesn't result in a game as engaging as it's predecessors. I still enjoyed it, clearly a lot more than many, but I cannot deny some disappointment.
This is what I've been saying for a long time. A lot of the features in DoW III seem to have been implemented as a box-ticking exercise. The problem is that it ended up being a design-by-compromise and they failed to understand the how and why certain features were things people wanted. The larger-scale battles are a prime example of this. That was probably one of the biggest "asks" from the DoW 1 fanbase. Well Relic ticked that box but never seemed to understand WHY we wanted bigger armies. We didn't want larger paper armies that got evaporated by elites and abilities. It seems like it was just an increase in the unit count for the sake of bigger unit counts. They didn't seem to consider how that would play out on the constrained maps they delivered, with the elite/ability focused gameplay. The result was a mess.
I don't think they should even try. That's what got them here in the first place. Design-by-compromise is almost always a bad idea. Right now DoW III doesn't have a value proposition that isn't being filled better by other, more focused games.
I know people hate hearing this but Relic needs to decide whether they want to work with the tiny following DoW III has managed, or whether they want to try to appeal to the broader DoW fanbase. In my mind, it doesn't make much sense to waste a popular IP with a huge following on the few folks who actually liked the delivered DoW III product. If they intend to do anything with the license/IP, and there's to be any future for the game, it needs to focus on bringing back all of the DoW fans like myself who abandoned the game or never wanted anything to do with it in the first place.
It's up to Relic to decide and perhaps we'll see in February what the plan is. If it's more of the same I'll take my leave of the forums and forget about the game altogether.
It will be what it will be. If they want to keep going under that current design scheme, I'll give up on the game altogether. There's plenty of other stuff to play.
As I always said, with just a few, but decisive tweaks to gameplay, without going over the top, it can marginally change quality of the game and most importantly - fun factor, especially if delivered with some long needed QoLs. The question is, however, how to market it so people flock back to give it another shot? I think that's the main problem. By now I suspect many have already moved on, and by Feb, I'm not sure game will have sufficient following, if any...

The only effective way now would be to announce an expansion, Dawn of war: Redemption.
And then have mechanical reworks come with it.
40k fans are really passionate. If the flame can be rekindled, it will burn brighter than ever

DoW Redemption sounds so korny.
But fitting with 40k theme
But it doesnt fit with current events of DoW 3. Depending on What faction they are gonna add it has to be fitting to that.
Winter assault took, place on a snow planet for the most part, dark crusade highlighted necrons, soulstorm had to do with dark eldar and the warp storm DoW 2 Chaos rising was obvious. And retribution was them fighting and killing kyras to redeem themselves.
Blood ravens dont have to redeem themselves thats why redemption would not fit imo and just be more bait for the trolls to snigger about lol.

Well it was my idea and I don't think it's troll bait. It would be self deprecating and cheeky nod to the fans. Some people might not take it that way but those people don't have a sense of humor. Relic is never going to do it anyway... but it would be funny.

Yeah it is cheeky. And you are right it could give a message that relic is trying to work with fans but i just know that the trolls will be out of their caves again.
Holly shitt! I just played my first match in this game on my brothers computer. Space marines vs AI Orcs, power core mode. And It's the most fun dawn of war game I ever played It captures warhammer 40k battles perfectly because It has that feel of a games workshop board game, coming from a guy who was collecting those as a kid. Give us more content, game is awesome!
I think It's better than the first two dow games.

Me and a friend started playing it recently and we both liked the game.
2 obviously, it's urgent to make the game decently satisfactory. This is a priority. It will bring back the players they already own it easier than convincing new ones to buy it, disregarding its current status.
Should the players return, their enthusiasm will generate positive feedback, this will attract new players and the expanded active fanbase will be able to support the game better by bringing new players and consume new dlc.
I'm still hoping for an expansion bringing a new race or two, and then some reworks to certain game mechanics. I don't think the core game play needs to be completely redone, I think it's a solid base. But certain mechanics like Elites/Doctrines could be tweaked to improve the game.
