I have looked at the text files and they talk about a "critical point" that can be built and that unlocks special and devastating abilities (ancestral storm, orbital bomber, etc.)
It is also mentioned a specific building for each race where elite units can be produced.

Well that certainly sounds like a radical change.
I'm curious, but I am also one of the few that loves DoW3 as is.
Thinking about the elite unit building. I think it would function similiar to what we got going on now just difference is we got all elites from get go. But i dont know what they will doo.

Hmm. It maybe does sound. But remember what Relic said, that they want to have best impact, so I think that they might considering reworking Elite system or other gameplay mechanics. Maybe they even considering to returning to earlier builds for a rework.

Yeh, I´m afraid it won t let s actually field more units of said type
So... We are getting the Orbital Relay back to unlock and call-in the super-units? I can finally have all the stuff in the field, oh the glorious carnage.
If I were a gambling man I'd say this is how it all shook / will shake out;
-The initial release did not meet expectations. Lets leave it at that.
-The first 3 months were pretty underwhelming; DLC/New races are not going to have much of an impact on the current audience.
-People were uninterested in the content provided and just stopped playing, reducing the over all player pool, the "hype" and generally just moving on.
-A choice was made to delay further DLC and re-work core mechanics, enhance the strong points and mitigate the weaknesses turning the previous months into a very extended beta
-A new patch drops, changes the game in some fundamental ways and attracts some if it's player base back
It is viewed as a fun, reasonable success and everyone goes "UGGGH THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED!"
-People are now "rediscovering" the game and it is generating buzz of it's own merit.
If in your head you are thinking "Gee, that sounds like Diablo 3" it's because it basically is. I doubt it was DESIGNED that way but most games that try a new direction likely have a bunch of ideas that didn't make the cut for final polish but are absolutely waiting in the wings.

well, imagine u can choose 6 elites pre-game and you are free to decide when u build em ingame. but youre still only able to have 3 elites max on the field. that would improve the gameplay a lot. this is where dow3 lacks atm imo. ingame upgrades and units. if they change the doctrinesystem or remove it completly (for example for ingame upgrades, max 4 each unit) this game would be so mutch more fun im pretty sure and opens a lot of new playstyles and better counter options.
i like but surely not love dow3 atm and this would improve the game a lot i think without much effort.
This will only shift pre-planning phase into execution phase = would reduce already weaker macro in favour of the already wildest micro.
You can choose 3 Elites now and summon them from the - for the most part - self-progressing scale with you have to hold EP gens, hunt down objectives or Elites to somehow affect it.
Sorry, but what you're proposing would grately devalue such decision. If you have a wider deck to choose from, you don't have to build it quite accurately and can summon whatever Elite is more fit right now, not even trying to predict it depending on your opponent's faction and map choice.
Practically, it would become your ultimate goal to summon Elite when you can just burn some extra resourses for it, because they can heal and will produce massive casualities. Just imagine KT+Dio+Angelos fielded much more earlier with burning some extra resourses on them than you're currently doing with EPs. You don't need any other units when you can have those, because this trio can fight ~160 pops-worth army of mainliners, turning the game into some real MOBA.
It's those cooldowns on Elites respawn, separations of EPs from Requsition-Energy scale people tend to ignore so much that makes Elites relevant in this game.

Once Elites just become regular units with limits it just becomes a game of counterpicking. I.e opponent picks Weirdboy, you pick Jain Zar. Opponent picks Gabriel, you pick Wazmakka.
Also if elites start getting locked behind tech tiers, it makes the game less dynamic.
I have a vague feeling that you won't be seeing things like Jain Zar / Gabe specifically so much as a Banshee Exarch and a Force Commander. Each individual will likely have their own wargear that costs X and gives Y so that the counter-picking aspect is less prevailent. This will also likely result in breaking down EP into smaller chunks so it can be more freely spent/directed/becomes a more traditional resource.
Eg : You want a WarBoss. He costs 50 points. You want him to have a Grappling Klaw (which gives him gorgutz grapple lets say) and that's 25 and unlocked at Tier 2
Eg : You want a KillTeam, they cost 15 points. You want them to have a missile launcher, that's 5. They're available tier 0.
Eg: You want a squad of Terminators. They cost 100 points. You want them to have a heavy flamer, that's 25. They're available Tier 3
That's what I would guess anyway. This would generally let you avoid being Counter-picked since there are some variables in there. Whether or not they do it as piece meal war-gear or packages. I feel like part by part war-gear would be the better of the ways to use your EP's if you're getting dumpstered and need to buff up your only elite before you lose entirely. The tier aspect would still let them time-gate certain elites; eg you can't rush to a Knight unless you were winning anyway.

Which i agree with fully. Counter picking will be a thing unless they make the elites cost differently etc etc.
If this true it would be a sad new. DOW3 is so great and have such a good potential. If SEGA finally don't release a new content after having promised it to fan base since months, disappointment will be so hard that it will be badly damaging to the company! Official communication becomes an necessary emergency right now ! (Gorb)
